SpectrumKing hates COBs

You guys are correct. I never meant that they were a more desirable option than COBs, esp for DIY, but was under the impression that they were, at least theoretically capable of higher efficiencies. My bad.

I think the ceiling for lm per watt is coming quick and the next wave will be reduced costs like the Cree MH series that achieves the same output at 40% less cost.

That may have been the HP's I was thinking of.

on the subject of Pet,why would you just assume he's the one that's telling the truth. Why would a business owner risk his companies reputation on someone that just annoyed him because they had a argument on a forum.
What's the alternative? Pet lied? I was inclined toward that interpretation because he pm'd me with details about the threat. I thought that was inconsistent with being threatened (emailing a stranger with details when you've been told to stop posting or the police will receive a "tip.").

However, maybe it wasn't Jeff. That's the reason I've mentioned how recent episodes of "ends justifying the means" (to enforce orthodoxy) gives Pet's claims credibility. The recent episodes share the same goal (protecting the community). At that time, the same people who flame up and then encourage everyone to report a thread so it will be closed were dismissing the threat against Pet as "he had it coming, he'd been warned before."

At that time it was easy to take that as post-mortem minimalization. But, after recent justifications of "ends justifying the means," those post-mortem comments sound different to me.

Well using the email/inbox service on RIU is different than public posting, as the former can be confidential (shared between two parties). I don't see how Pet emailing you after being told not to post anything removes any credibility or consistency with his story. It sounds to me like he was looking around the room to find some individuals that could have assisted in his favor during the ordeal, or even choosing those he considered worthy of sharing what could have been the real truth - as a warning or heads up.

The last sentence of your first paragraph that I'm replying to refers to the RealStyles incident, where people were claiming that he wouldn't admit he was wrong or something? (Sorry about not fully understanding the story, I could really care less about these matters these days, as it all boils down to the typical 'I'm right, your wrong' scenario and yes promoting inaccurate information isn't good for the community BUT then again, if the community doesn't do their individual research, then does it really even matter that they may be misinformed? O no, I'm rambling again!)

What the hell are you talking about? I thought you were mister analytical and now you sound like mister conspiracy theory. People conspiring to close a thread, now I've heard it all,is there a secret LED Illuminati here on RIU? I've reported posts on RIU and have never seen a response from a admin,if they have a agenda I'm sure they wouldn't tell the forum users. If Pet was really threatened maybe it came from RIU,who knows. Pets problems were self inflicted in my opinion and he didn't have many supporters here that I knew of.

I was talking about what has been mentioned a couple times in this thread about the ends justifying the means. That (and the recent episodes those comments applied to) gave pet's incident a different pale to me.

Just an observation.

Just for the record,I've reported posts or threads for being obvious spam but have never done it for any other reason.
