I'm glad AK's legalized adult use, but watching all the bullshit at the assembly and hearing what's coming out of Walker's mouth I don't trust our "leaders" to respect the peoples' will, or their ability to carry it out as we intend. So to gird against the Reefer Madness types I believe in the "Overgrow" philosophy, an idea that we if we just get enough damn people growing their own weed then the war against it will become futile if not lost, even if the next prez is Romney or Christie.
Obviously our climate makes this more difficult here than in Cali, but autos make it possible. They're not perfect but they can be good enough. So to do one small part I've an idea to get auto seeds in as many Alaska gardens as will have them: for free, with instruction, and without any kind of bullshit tax or municipal oversight. In other words, FOR THE PEOPLE, used in-house for insomnia, escape, clarity, pain relief, giggles, spiritual connection, whatever. Use it for whatever purpose, but grown and used outside of any commercial, governmental or heirarchal system.
Now I'm all about commercial operations, and people making a solid living selling top tier ganja to people who don't grow. But anyone who grows tomatoes outside in AK can also grow a few auto plants to satisfy much of their yearly smoke needs... or at least have a bunch of joints to hand out freely at Salmonstock, Kenai dipnetting or wherever you want next year... for almost no cost.
This is a long-term plan, seeds will likely not be ready to run til April 2016, although maybe just in time for a second run this summer. We'll see.
But to get it started, I've got 14 auto seeds I plan on crossing this spring, and three adults on three properties that want to grow them. So for this project we'll be more than legal. We'll crack early April, with the hope of creating pollen off of at least 2 of them (via colodial silver) and crossing that pollen with all of the strains, hopefully creating thousands of seeds. These seeds will then be shared freely with other Alaskans who want to grow their 3 or 6 or 24 plants, under the midnight sun. If all goes as planned I hope to post a grow journal showing how any Alaskan can harvest 2 runs of autos annually, legally, and I can just give the damn seeds away to any adult who wants them via Craigslist or wherever.
The first round will be started inexpensively under flourescents this spring before hardening off and finishing in a greenhouse under the AK summer sun. The second run will be the same, or if possible start-to-finish under the sun, we'll see how the weather cooperates. I plan to run organic supersoil with minimal nute additions but we'll see how that goes too.
This is not a complex breeding project; its pollen chucking that will hopefully yield a few decent variations. With decent genetics I believe most crosses will be decent, although some may be duds (kief'd) and others might be straight up dank. Maybe I'll even find something extraordinary. But all will be fem, and autoflowering. We'll see what the gene gods offer, and we'll have seeds of the best if we find winners. Pollination will be limited to a branch/3 per plant, and all (non-ruderalis pheno) plants will be finished and smoked, so we know which seeds' parents we like best.
Here's what I have to start, all of them Autofem:
1x Sweet Seeds Dark Devil
1x Sweet Seeds Jack 47
1x Sweet Seeds Black Cream
2x Emerald Triangle Seeds Lemon Haze
3x Female Seeds Critical
1x Strainhunters Damnesia
5x Kenai Kush auto (ETS Headlights Kush x Sensi Skunk#1)
The Sweet Seeds are Attitude freebies. The ETS, FS and Strainhunters are leftovers from last year's failed guerilla project. The Kenai Kush is a cross between my 2 best autos last year- a Sensi Seeds Skunk #1 Auto with a Emerald Triangle Seeds Headlights Kush auto. Here's some pix of the Skunk, it gave me more than 5 oz, 110 days seed to chop:
:
Yes its an auto but I took a cutting off the Skunk, rooted it, sprayed it with colloidal silver til it produced balls and pollinated a few pre-flowers. 10 turned into what look like viable seeds. I gave 5 away and kept 5. This year my hope is to make hundreds or thousands of seeds to share with other Alaskans, for free, from these plants. If anyone else wants in- sharing pollen, or using mine on their autos- LET'S DO IT. Let's create as many auto seed strains as possible, find what works best in AK and then share them with whoever will put them in the ground... and keep the ganja flowing!
I expect that this thread could go dormant for a while as I won't be working on this for a few months. But I wanted to get the idea out there, so any Alaskan outdoor auto growers could start thinking about ways to make the experiment better or bigger.
So post here if you've ideas, I'd love to get on with OVERGROWING...
