You'll ^ be surprised how hot it can get in a closet with a 400 watter. Cool Tube is definitely a good idea.

I had the exact same setup but in a warmer climate. (in the South) An air conditioner is going to cost a lot of money to run, for a closet grow probably not too cost effective unless you have the money and don't care.

What I did was buy one of these sets
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hole-Saw-Drill-Bit-Kit-16pc-w-Mandrels-Saws-w-Case-Wood-Plastic-Sheet-Metal-/171530890693
and cut 6 inch hole in the ceiling. I then connected my carbon scrubber and fan directly together and raised it so it was near the hole in the ceiling, (I had a shelf that was up high) then add a small amount of duct (home depot) to the inline fan and up into the attic. I then cut a 4 inch hole using the hole saw blade in the lower part of the door. That hole let fresh air in and the carbon scrubber/fan combo ran the hot and now smell free air up into the attic. If you're worried about cutting the door, you can buy a cheap one at home depot for about $20.00. Patching the hole in the ceiling (which will be a clean circle, you can reuse the sheet rock circle you cut) and buying a cheap door is far cheaper buying an AC unit and the power that it will consume.

My closet would get into high 90's or low 100's without those modifications but I was able to keep it about 5-7 degrees higher than room temperature with the simple ventilation setup.

I have a cool tube now and have tested just running the hot air through another hole in the door and it worked fine. So really you can get away with just two holes in a cheap door if you have a cool tube. One hole by itself for intake, one hole to exhaust the cool tube.

If you're concerned about stealth just make sure the fan is quite or muffled and run it into the attic then for the door intake hole staple/somehow attach a big tote tub, boxes etc to the door so it looks like it's sitting on the floor in front of the door. Cut a corresponding 4 inch hole in the tote tub/box and if needed add a little duct to connect it so air can be pulled in. I just kept a bunch of boxes and crap in front of the door but left space to make sure the fresh air intake hole wasn't obstructed.

You can't really tell it's not the best pic but I'm in a closet about 80x80x150 I have a 5"cool tube with a 400w hps and a carbon filter to a 6" fan and I'm pulling air from outside with a 5",I cut straight up through the ceiling into the loft, but I'm running very high humidity levels during the night..there's a lot that needs to go in to such a small space to be ideal,it's not simple

I rent too, that's why I saved the circle cut from the ceiling and bought a second door. There are videos on youtube on patching drywall, it's very easy and cheap with all supplies via home depot or lowes.

Maybe buy a grow tent, AC the room it self and cool tube exhaust out a window. They have window fan gadgets and portable AC vent kits for windows so you don't need to cut, just modify the window vent you would purchase. The problem I have with window attachments is that it looks suspicious. If you're growing in soil I'd just run your light at 100 percent during veg and monitor things during flower, possibly lowering back to 50 percent on the ballast. If you're doing hydro those temps are just inviting root rot issues though.

I'm just a hobbyist who grows only for personal use so I don't want to give advice on the temps. Some advanced growers are real technical with temps etc, as long as I don't get root rot or melt my buds, I just run at the lowest temp I can get. I've grown some good smoke in soil at 85F - 86F and wouldn't worry about it personally.

The point is no matter what you are going to need ventilation and carbon filtration don't think you'll get very far living in a apt. with out it. I have used the washer and dryer area and vented out the dryer vent but only after filtration. These plants will stink and some are worse than others.

ok so your saying the temp is ok,what about the batwing should i return it,(they charge a 15% restock fee )and get something else, everyone keeps talking about a cool tube,im getting the air conditioner cause the light makes the room hot but even if i didnt have a light my heat rises and it's 80 up here and 70 downstairs :(.why do we need ventilation again(yes im getting a fan to circulate air around the closet)but with the batwing if it's ok to keep it how do i set ventilation up?

Odor! These plants can put off a lot of it. And you don't think anyone will notice. If your Landlord stops by he will know. If the cable or the phone stop by and have to come in they will know. You can vent back into the same room but please scrub you air.
