Back in the day, we would rip off the coping(grip) from a shopping cart, and fit it to our Indy trucks. To grind them unwaxed curbs. Couldn't do it with trackers.
i remember when copers where all the rage.. i never liked gullwings much either..

I know that this thread I likely a West Coast skate thread but this is all I have to share...

When my wife and I got serious, I made her learn to skate. On account of the fact that when the Amsterdam canals freeze, the whole country takes about five days off for a huge race and marathon party. She learned to skate about eight years ago and the canals haven't come close to freezing yet.

nah, i was never that good naturally.. it took me hours and hours of skating to learn tricks were kids i'd skate with that were naturally good would learn them in minutes or w/e..
not that i sucked, just meant i was never what i'd call a natural at skating..

it makes me cry watching the new Generation skate. Kick-flipping everything. Fucking crazy! I was alright. Had some very close friends who were sponsored.

i'm from Santa Cruz originally. Where I was born. Then moved over the hill to losGatos almaden when I was ten.
Lived in Stockton for about 5 yrs, up until 4 yrs ago. Fucking hated that place.

Hahahaha. I have family there. What a shithole. 2nd highest murder rate per capita. And I hear its only getting worse. I know some cats there from the east side that don't fuck around. Good, good people, but they don't even play around. Meth is killing that place.

then this kid i used to skate with all the time from a town over got sponsored.. that kid was crazy good.. he's what i'd call a natural.. just jump on any board and rip..
and yeah, i follow a few skating pages on facebook, and i'm blown away at how technical most kids are today. the shit they're doing now is eff'in crazy imo..

I had 12 lights going in Stockton(almost Lodi) very north Stockton. Anyways, two sheriff deputies decided to move in on both sides of me. What a fucking joke.

You know you're grown ass man when some 16 year old punker calls you a fucking hippie when walk in the to pickup a 12 pack at the gas station. I'm like....fuck you...I'm not a fucking hippie....I fucking hate hippies. I'm punk on the inside. I traded my green liberty spikes and my leather jacket in for a stroller years ago. :lol:

I have a downhill longboard, a cruiser, and a little short board too. I can't skate on any of them for shit, but i try and have fun. Trying to learn how to downhill slide...Coleman, pendy, etc...

Lodi is almost worse from I've been hearing. Over run with skinhead meth brainsh.

Yeah, my skating career pretty much ended when my daughter was born. 1994 :-(
