I am not sure, but the kit for the low ambient temp might just be a heater for the outdoor unit so it doesn't freeze up in heat mode.I've read there is low ambient temp models.
You would have to check with the manufacture.

8 thousand watters(air cooled) and co2 burner. How many lights are you cooling?
That kit would be for a heat pump but would an A/C need the same modification?I am not sure, but the kit for the low ambient temp might just be a heater for the outdoor unit so it doesn't freeze up in heat mode.

I think it is only needed if using the heat function. That kit would be for a heat pump but would an A/C need the same modification?
Did you research what you needed or just let someone tell you what you need?...sorry no offense.8 thousand watters(air cooled) and co2 burner.
non taken. I researched a little online on the forums at icmag and asked the installer when he was here for the quote. The installer was referred to me from another local grower which was what I was hoping for. I find it much easier to deal with installers who have done grow rooms before. Installers who haven't done grow rooms before just seem to have a harder time understanding things.Did you research what you needed or just let someone tell you what you need?...sorry no offense.
I ask because it sounds like you have a 3 zone unit, but only using 2?non taken. I researched a little online on the forums at icmag and asked the installer when he was here for the quote. Yeah I'm only using 2.I ask because it sounds like you have a 3 zone unit, but only using 2?
To get to the point, the air cooled hoods shouldn't be necessary with 5 tons of a/c
So I'm guessing you've never shut down the fans to see if the a/c can handle it alone?Yeah I'm only using 2.
I'm sure the air cooled hoods are probably not necessary but already had them rockin before the a/c.
no never have. Things seem to be working fine the way it is so like the old saying goes, if it's not broken...So I'm guessing you've never shut down the fans to see if the a/c can handle it alone?
From a guy that fixes broken things...there's a difference between working and working well.no never have. Things seem to be working fine the way it is so like the old saying goes, if it's not broken...
True that. Are you suggesting I might be better off not using the air cooled hoods? From a guy that fixes broken things...there's a difference between working and working well.
Even if you only save some power, its still a win!True that. Are you suggesting I might be better off not using the air cooled hoods?
I thought I was saving power by using them lol. I imagine the a/c unit is much more demanding.Even if you only save some power, its still a win!
lol..well not if your roasting buds. Turning off the fans turns those hoods into heat traps. Go vertical bare bulb.
hard to say...depends on the equipment really. I would at least try it.I thought I was saving power by using them lol. I imagine the a/c unit is much more demanding.
I can't do vertical, i don't have enough room I don't think.
Hmm Interesting, food for thought anyway. How many inches do you need to keep the bulbs away from the plants?if x's are plants and o's are lights
o x o x
x o x o
o x o x

12' x 12' room 60" plant centers

With vertical its like multiple lights/plant. Every plant has coverage on at least 2 sides.interesting, always been curious about vertical growing. Do you usually just grow one huge plant per light or multi?
