Yeah I saw those. A friend of mine is a lawyer and has had like 5 of those things euthanized for mutilating babies faces. He likes to show me the pictures of the damage, it's super sickening.
The only reason there are so many pit-bull attacks is because they are so many, pit-bulls are the one of the most popular dog breeds in America especially in Texas and Cali.. second is because of Pit like dogs, muts.. Most pit-like dogs are not even real Staffordshire terriers so there are ton of pit-like dogs.. Third my dog goes where I go, I pay a lot of money to keep my dog in great health.. He is not on chain locked up in a backyard.. He sleeps and cuddles with me, I could not ask for a better dog.. But it's all about the owner not the breed.. lets not forget Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chows, German shepherds and even Labs can all be violent breeds..

Exactly! There's lot of other breeds of dogs who are also responsible for attacks. My last dog was a German Shep and my friends would leave their 6 mth old baby with him. My pit is actually better because he doesn't fight with any dogs.
It all depends on education and upbringing. I consider myself a handler not an owner. @KLITE can vouch for my dogs obedience. People comment all the time because people out here don't train their dogs at all.
We have a lot of pit mixes here and are now regulated with microchip, insurance, license for dangerous dogs etc.
However we have much more stronger breeds here than pit bulls. Dogos are banned in most countries around the world but not here. They can kill a puma and one made the breed famous by doing so (YouTube). Fila brasilera, cane corsa, tosa etc. are also in the list so education and training is a must!

I agree almost 100%. They are probably one of the most misbred, inbred canines out there. And often the owner teaches them to mean if the inbreeding or whatever hasn't already displaced their disposition anyway.

Could they though? Their jaw strength isn't great is it? I've seen a couple of labs aggressive with other dogs but not people. In fact I've not seen any dogs aggressive towards people here.
There are definitely more pitbull mixes here than any other breed but the list of supposed dangerous dogs is getting bigger. There are some pretty mean jack Russells here and they can be nasty.

Wow! I'd heard they were viscous! There's a member here who breeds them but I've not seen him online for years.
They're just rats bro. I've read many stories of Ferrets eating baby faces.

Wish pit bulls didn't have such a bad rep. But, I figure about 50% of dog owners shouldn't own a dog. That's why the breed and ultimately the disposition of the dogs can be a bit sketchy. Should have to take a class, pass a test and get a license to own a dog IMO. I got 3 pound mutts. 2 are 16 years old and always lived in the same house. Ole fellas are counting down too. They had it good tho.

I recently rescued a pitbull/chocolate lab mix. He was skin and bones when I found him and the pads on his feet were ripped to shreds, I brought him back to full health and he's one of the friendliest dogs I've ever had. He loves children and the neighbors let their 4 and 6 year old kids come out and pet him when I'm walking him. Some people are scared of him just because he's a pitbull but this dog doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body.

running behind it screaming at it to come back...

I bet if you had to pay for the crimes your vicious animal commit you would get a shitzu
If I had a dog I couldn't control and he had tendencies like that I would put it down. But, ultimately it was most likely the owner wasn't qualified to raise that dog. I know people raising dogs I wouldn't trust raising roaches. Just saying. Maybe a small percentage of dogs are naturally predisposed to being harmful to people and other animals. But, the majority of te problem is caused by people who think pets are like stuffed toys you have to feed. The animals need care and companionship, training and obedience and a well balanced life like anything else. Just saying. You may have done a good thing, but, I feel most likely it was the stupid owners fault and not the breed of the dog. You gotta do what u gotta do to protect your child tho.
