Does it matter if your roots are exposed in this kind of system?

What I would have done is buy a 4x8 piece of insulation board and cut out holes for each net pot. It makes a perfect lid for flood tables and holds the net pots perfectly and it is very easy to work with the insulation board. It also keeps the root zone cooler. The light will just airprune the roots I would imagine making the roots smaller than optimal and it could also grow algae. You could just get some hydroton and fill the empty spots in the table with them.

Im doing this to see how lazy i can be while still doing hydro, I had extra room and since i grow for a company and still have my CO med card while living all the way out in the boonies i figured id have some fun and entertain my roommates.

I didnt top any plants!!!! Im using 1" rockwool cubes in small net pots w/ hydroton, kind of sog but the lazy mans way

Started Flooding every 4 hrs in veg
Switched to flooding every 3 hours when lights are on and 1 time when off in flower
(adding one more feed on the timer is the most energy im willing to exert on this home grow except for water changes every Sunday)

ill keep you posted, ill post the first few weeks pictures and see what u think

im very lazy when im not a work and very motivated to stay this lazy, but i guess i can still read your post lol

once they fill out that is gunna be hell for the roots also the way they grow good luck tho man
 
I guess I forgot to mention I'm a caregiver too for my roommates and I lol thanks for the concern but yeah all legal over here :)

Really just wanted to hear how u think it will end up? Lol

Allllllll good then!

I second the poster who suggested putting your cups in holes cut out of a sheet of insulation- like 1" foil covered foam board maybe. That's going to eliminate algae and help your roots- and therefore your yield.

I up'd the h202 to 150ml in my 70g thats really as high as i want to go ya know. but literally as long as ur leaves are shading the roots that will do just fine for about 9-10 weeks of life(from experience)

and for the other guy AN ph down keeps my ph at 5.7-6.1 for the entire week and i use tap water.... again lazy mans hydro hahaha thanks for the input tho
