How High !

Growing indoors. How tall should they be or get when growing in doors ? A friend said mine on way too tall and should only be about a metre above the plant pot.

plant wants to be around 12-18 inches high, flip 12/12 (flower) lift your light up. say you wanted them a meter high lift the light to a meter and a half, as the plants grow up drop the light down and try and meet the plant at the height you want obviously keep a safe distance from the plant you dont want to burn em! 12-18 inches is about right for a 400w light do the hand test at the top of your plants if its uncomfortable for your hand its guna be uncomfy for the plant. the shorter your plants the fatter the buds, so im guessing if yours are too tall your going to get small buds, hope this helps happy growing majorbis63 ;-)

if there to tall lop the tops of and they will grow out instead uf up top, lolliepop, HST (high stress training) and super crop but make sure the plants have at least 48 hours of been left alone before flowering i make sure and leave them a week to recover
HST (high stress training) looks and is barbaric to the plant but, it makes the plant think its under attack so grows back stronger and produces more THC as a defense mechanism, = SHORT FAT STEMS = DENCE STICKY BUDS

Thankyou guys. My plants are way too tall. Probably a metre taller than they should be. Should I cut off a metre from each one as you say ?

They've been in flowering for a week.

Should I carry on and cut them down a metre or switch off for 48 hours and cut them down still ?

I'm scared at having to cut them down where buds may grow, will they come back ? Is there a specific way to cut them ?

if its in veg still, yeah chop it down because it x by 3. so if you have 2 meters head space flower at half a meter it will stretch to 1 & a half meters. or if your in flower just tie them down break the stems but not all the way as u can get infection dont break the stem skin as it where, squeeze the stems with your fingers until you here it snap inside if it breaks the skin just tape it up but make sure you can get the tape off without damaging the plant it will heal in a week, if there is lots of shoots just take it off and bin it happy growing

Thanks for the response. Sounds a delicate job. If I break the stems then surely the stem skin will break ? I'm a little confused here. If I break snap a stem then why am I taping it back up if I'm trying to reduce it's height ?

it looks barbaric but the plant will bounce back, i still take off small shoots well into flower, it produces more THC dont fuck about with the lights leave them now or you could put them back in veg but it will take longer ill attach a before and the day after this was 20 days into flower if the stems are to thick to break tie them down and keep the light as close as you can to prevent stretch let me know wat you did

just tie them down if you squeeze a stem with you thumb and finger you will here a crunch and the top will hang over it will look like its damaged but the next day it will right itself and compensate for the damage, a bit like body building in us look at my profile pic see how fat the branches are its only 4 weeks old ;-), no like a broken leg you can have a break without you skin being broken but if its a bad break its called an open facture you get me now?

not much room to play with is there lol id lop the tops off and keep the light as close as you comfortably can to stop the stretch bend your light shade out so its straight then lop and lower hope this helps they are very resilient plants it will be fine take about 12 inches off them

No such thing as too much light, so keep the cfl as long as heat isn't a factor.

I would highly recommend topping them about 8-12 inches, and holy crap, PLEASE defoliate the bottom third sucker branches! Do this by week two of flower. First three weeks of flower think of as a " super veg" time, as you will see the most stretching and explosive growth. If you do this by week 2-3, your plants will have plenty of time to adjust to the stress.

Do NOT mess with light cycle unless you want to throw a month of time out the window and possibly your genetics too.

Also, what genetics/varieties are you running? Maybe I missed reading them, but if they are from seed, you will need to be able to inspect every plant for Hermes throughout flower. Different genetics will also stretch more, flower longer, and feed more/less than others.
