Topping a second time

Hey everyone. This will be the first time that I topped a second time so I am just wondering if I should just do the two tops or should I do some lower ones as well? I wasn't sure how many bud sites can be topped and if they can, should it be done all at once or in stages? I dont plan on doing it till tomorrow morning at lights on so it has the day to recover. All input is appreciated. I dont mind waiting for them to recover. My best yields have come from just spending 2-3 more weeks in VEG. 3 times as much than if I would have flowered 3 weeks earlier. Here is a few pics. They were started from seed 1/21 I know i ask a lot of questions but I only ask once! I am very pleased how this grow is going and dont want to screw things up. I want this whole 4x4 area filled for maximum yield! Thanks Everyone!

You can do as much as you want when it comes to topping, lower branches too, u can bend the main tops so the rest will come up and have a nice unmbrella ... plus you said u are not in a hurry, go crazy, just do it then wait a few days so she can unstress a bit. I do it when lights are on,

They look lovely Amigo =)

Ive only heard topping refer to terminating the main cola, allowing more even growth among secondary colas. Are you running out of horiztonal space and want to cut down further nodes?

Yeah you can top as many as you want, but I seem to have good luck with just doing the 2nd topping on the 2 main branches, which turns it into 4. Usually the branches under those will catch up and I will end up with 6-8 tops all on the same plane without doing any tying or other types of training.

I've had luck super cropping the lower branches. This keeps them out f the lights, my plant responds well, and it only takes a few seconds. Just pinch those lower branches to about 90 degrees or until you hear a little pop! Then let her lay over. If you overdo it (I did once), you can use some tape and she should keep on growing.

have you ever topped any of the lower branches? This is what I am really looking to do as it will double bud sites. I like smaller main buds because they cure easier, faster and less chance of mold. Plus I read that the tips of the branches produce the most potent buds.

Thank You! Should I do a few, maybe alternate nodes then wait a couple days and do the rest as not to stress the plant or is this not necessary?

Indeed and when it heals that particular branch/stem will get twice as big and the bd on that branch/stem will thank you for it, plants like to be challenge, dont be scared. =)get some extra grams out of them ladies lol

do al lthe plant the same time. what I have noticed is that if u f@ck around with the main stems and the the other stems the plants will stress more try and do all the little skinny stems then one day do the main ones =)

Looks great bro and i usually top the highest growth so it allows the lower areas to even out and grow up to the top for a level canopy if ur trying to get alot of "main" colas look up 'scrog' its a great technique that makes all the bud sites level like i said to an even canopy so u will have multiple colas if u read about it and ur gunna do it also look up lollipoping, hope u continue to have beautiful plants bro great job happy growing

Topping won't increase the colas, youd want to FIM, which is cutting off 80% of new growth to produce double (4) growths.

No, I do not, because my goal is to even the canopy more so than anything else.

Ur right ur right, it wont make multiple bud sites mybad it will even ur canopy ive always considered them.the same its only alil higher for the fim
I am confused then. When I first topped it was obviously the main stem wich shot two tops. So if I top again wouldnt two more shoots start from each site? I do plan on SCROG or LST after this 2nd topping.

Thanks brother! So on the second top put it under a SCROG? This is what I did after 1 topping and bud sites grew from the sided of the branches. I am debating weather to do LST VS SCROG so I can remove the plants if needed.

Those 2 growths would have grown out eventually, if left to veg long enough. Otherwise, they would have become bud sites.

I see now but dont they grow out with more vigor if i topped them? I thought topping forces the auxins to the lower branches to increase growth. I want my plant to fill out vs up

From what I have read so far it sounds like I should top the two main then scrog or LST. Would this be the best bet?
