Hi I was wondering if anybody has ever tried an 9/3 light cycle for veg? Giving it enough light energy to use during the dark and again?that's 18 hours light total a day but broken up making sure they don't run out of energy to work with while they sleep. I can't find any info on how much energy a plant uses while it sleeps so I can't be sure. And just so nobody tries to change my opinion I don't agree with 24/0 light cycle and will not ever lol, not saying anyone's wrong just my opinion :) thank you!

that's 18/6 = 9/3

6 hours darkness in 24 hours

but why
Yes I understand that fully, and I believe I explained why, I can't find tests or any data at all on how much the plant can absorb during the day. And also how fast it uses itat night. As I am not a scientist or have no way to know how to even begin tesing for that, I figured trial and error would be best

its the less or more hours a day which will have an effect , not the same hours just split up :)
that is completely untrue, ur telling me if I turn my light on and off every half an hour it will flower? No it will not, still 12/12 right? But it won't flower. I would like to know if anybody has tried this or has any facts, not opinions based off of what u think is common sense. why would that not make a difference? I don't understand. Can you please explain why it would have the same effect as 18/6.

no your miss understanding

your on about energy stored through the day to use on the night ....... But wether you give it 18/6 or 9/3 X2 in 24 hours your still getting the same energy.

Yes, as jodon said you are completely mistaken. A plant will not flower on a 6 on six off schedule even if it gets 12 hours of darkness a day. I have kep[t a plant in veg by putting it under a light for a total of about 5 hours a day as long as you break up the dark periods with about an hour or 2 of light before it gets more than 10 hours of darkness.. A photo period cannabis plant needs 12 hours of darkness STRAIGHT to put into effect the hormonal changes that makes it flower.

oh i see what you ment. Ya you are probably right, a plant will grow in veg about the same even if the light is broken up.
