Ginwilly.

As soon as I put buck on ignore something happened to my computer and the ignore feature didn't work and my computer slowed way down to the point I have to log out if I want to read anything on RIU. I never got a message from administration that I have been put on a slow down. I don't even know what a slow down is or if it is possible to manipulate some ones computer like that.

Is this something that has happened to anybody else?

Wow that sucks. I got the slow down for making fun of him snitching on everyone calling him a snitch. No warnings for me either.

I like this place, but for it to be my whole life and how I value myself I'd have to have absolutely nothing else going on. I feel pity for him. I mean... fake quotes in his sig line? you can always tell who the last person who embarrassed him most was.

If we did the same to him we would most likely get the passive aggressive slow down.

So France going with 58 different reactors and recycling up 50% of the waste, and NOT blowing up the world is proof that we need to abandon nuke tech??

Just give up on technological advances, yet keep the decades old factories churning? If anything, that should be unacceptable. It's time to upgrade here in the states.

I understand it's dangerous, that's why I say we develop safer methods instead of being locked into 40 year technology. Hell, I would love a car to run on a nuclear battery some day. Safely.....

No idea. I'm told warnings drop off after a period, but since I never got a warning I can't tell you.

It's happened to the ones who has made a fool out of UB, so wear like it a badge of honor.

This is totally bull shit.

While it`s true that the "once through" reactors create spent control rods that have beta decay of millions of years, the fast reactors design is to take those rods and fuel it`self and a few more reactors and reduce spent control rods to have a beta decay of less than 200 years. This is very manageable. As to the fizzle properties of the rods, you can use them to produce weapons grade materials, but not after they have gone through the second time. So it is possible to take a few rods and hide them til you acquire enough to build a bomb in secret. (why I don`t trust Iran)

So tity, tell me how horrible and highly radioactive a spent control rod who`s decay is rendered harmless after only a few (200+/-50) short years ? Fossile fuels` carbon footprint lasts much longer. Thermonuclear,....don`t even have one.

So as long as you don`t break them,.... they are safe and as green as a clover and,.. after two hundred or so years, the spent rods can be reused to soak up more glowing shit again....go through a fast reactor, get stored, reused,...so on.... Break them,...well the best thing for the general public would be Natural,...Run , run far and fast...just don`t go around the world and come back to it...

To the best of my knowledge and from a leading plant operator,...the lethal dose of radiation from a spent "once through" control rod is projected a huge thirty feet from the rod, after that, it`s an acquired taste.

There was a book out in the 60's called "We Almost Lost Detroit" that most people aren't even aware of. We came within 10 seconds of a meltdown at the Enrico Fermi II plant in the 60's, this is not common knowledge, not even to people who live there.

Same plant with the same technology is still powering the same region. All they've done since that time is increase their capability.

It`s looking like losing Detroit was the better play, more people died last month (or Night) in Detroit from Black on Black gunfights than any Nuclear disaster...and they say black lives matter,...well somebody better tell Detroit...
