Idk, why can't we just drop it. It's not our decision/business to run RIU anyway. If there are "unofficial sponsors" then it should just be unspoken like the rules of FightClub....even though I think that it would be awesome to have constant deals and specials being shown, as long as they were legitimate and not just like $10 off with coupon:ihatethisworthlessdiscount

I use ad block plus, so I don't see ads. I appreciate talking to the reps in threads sometimes, and I had no problem with their posts on the party cup competition thread, since they were offering prizes to the winners/participants. They didn't post a lot of spammy crap either, so that helped too.
I also think the term 'sponsor' is a bit misleading, as they didn't really pay anything or set up the competition, but they were offering prizes for the top finishers.
Mostly, I didn't have a problem with it because the competition was not run by the 'sponsors' and they sat on the sidelines like everyone else. It's not my website so I'm not going to bitch about what they do or don't do.
I just think the party cup competitions are a lot of fun. That's all I have to say on it

Why would you offer prizes to winners when the mods said no, so you can tell the winners "hey guys, no prizes?" later? How would you deal with a situation like that? Just end the contest and tell everyone the party is over?

Right, my issue is that here I am watching this contest while thinking how clever RIU was for turning their biggest pumpkin competition into a way of making money. Little did I know that the organizer went behind the mods back when he was exclusively told not to do this.
I can't understand why RIU wouldn't want the sponsors, but at the same time, why would anyone think it's okay to make a giant logo like that and not expect the party to get shut down?
What would you do if you said no prizes and they offered prizes anyway? Would you tell everyone they can't get their prizes? How would you even handle that. Because of that really bad move, now the pumpkin contest has turned into a shitstorm where people may no longer get prizes they were promised. Maybe not too big a deal, but that's just shitty imo.

yeah, you're right about that. I guess they did too good of a job promoting the competition and it brought the eye of sauron upon the the thing. not to mention the fact that you have the troll nomo reporting everything he can think of because he's a child.

The thing is that I thought that it was all actually official. I had absolutely no issue with the sponsors and the prizes.. I just didn't realize that halfway through the competition, potroast would finally show up and figure out there's actually sponsorship interest for the contest and want a piece of the pie.. I thought he already knew and was supporting the contest.

Advertisement has to be approved by the admin not mods .

No..I don't blame him, and I totally agree with you. I feel like I was watching a game show, and all of the sudden, half way through the show, the corporate CEO walked in and told the host he's fired. Wtf just happened... lol. What am I even watching? I thought they were supposed to get prizes, then it turns out the host was being sneaky? The "official" sponsors were all listed on page one. As a viewer, I thought they were approved by the admin! How does that just slip by for over 100 pages? It sure fooled me! I thought potroast was already getting his cut or in some way agreed to letting it go.

So I'm not privy to all the crap that went on with the competition. And I'm not commenting on that.
As far as spam and advertising go, this site is not overdoing it. I want it to stay that way. In a way, I prefer sneaky behind the scenes advertising to the over the top hammer on the head flashing red lights and popup ads that I see practically every where else. I guess that I'm jaded but I suspect everybody so I don't have a problem with subtle advertising.. Leave the policy alone.

Subbed. I think there should be an advertising mod. I have a friend whos invention made high times best products of the month this month or last month im not sure. But it could save people on this site money when it comes to cloning. Id love to give him a plug. Hes been working on his invention for a year, hed love to get his product out and endorsed by public grows and id love to help him and all the members on this site out by doing it.
