I know the heartsickness------what I did for three days without power: (Hurricane)

I lowered the normally high end of my tubes to have standing water in the tubes----about 6 hrs later I lowered the drain end---causing water to flow into my rez which emptied down my utility sink. Readjusted tubes and refilled with tap water------all survived.

There's not much work with hydro but you don't have much buffer for fuck ups.

But you also don't have a buffer to fuck up.

Is it possible to have the rez and pump outside the flower cabinet? (For example a 44 gallon garbage can for the rez)----if yes, I've done that with tubes 2" off the floor using a nute level controller.

Rez yes, although 44gal is 2-3x larger than I like to use, but pump no, not really. Especially if I'm going to run the pump outside the rez it needs to be contained in the closet (which haspond liner) and not in the space I got left (which is also the electro corner in my room).

I have my chiller outside my closet, so pump water through wall outside closet through chiller and back into closet. I already consider placing arez outside the closet simply to reduce the need for the chiller.

That's a great idea bro! All you really need to do is keep the roots wet. If I lose power again then I know what to do. Better yet I think I'm going to save up for a generator.

I'm thinking out loud here, but what about picking up a bladder tank, like they use in the HP aeros's, for a backup system. A 20-30 gal tank is like $180-$200, IDK if you'd need that much..you'd have to do some calcs for your system( flow rates when pumps are on x number of cycles a day) set up a 12V timer on a car battery to operate a solenoid, fill with solution from your res, pressurize to IDK 30-50 psi..( probably need a 12V compressor, remember powers out), set timer to a 1/5, 1/10, 1/15, etc just to keep em alive. it would drain back to the res. to be reused when it runs out. If you add a shutoff at the pipe coming up from the pumps in the res, you could shut that off, turn on your dump/fill valve and hook up to that with a hose. Wouldn't exactly be a cheap solution, but it would be good for someone running a larger setup who doesn't want to deal with a generator.

WARNING!!!!!

I've never tried what I'm suggesting-----only an idea that might satisfy your "commercial specs".

Start with a box ------say 2' tall for example (box lid included) in your flower cabinet.

In the lid make a grid pattern of say 6" holes.

Cut equal number of 26" long pieces of 6" pvc (one for each hole in lid). This will serve as a root sleeve.

Using 1/2" pvc and tees----make a manifold in bottom of tank with open end of tee facing upward.

Take pieces of 1/2" pvc about 22" long and press into tees facing upward.

Plant roots go in the 6" pvc with a 1/2" pvc flowing nutes down the roots.

Add 3/4" pvc trellis to the lid for plant support.

Once a plant/s is removed the sleeve and supply line can be removed for more root space.

Anyway----- just an idea. And thanks for coaching
