Do you know how long I've waited for someone to figure out the LARD reference?
For me, it goes back to a record shop in Bellingham, WA called Cellophane Square (wow, it's still there?)...
If I was looking for something obscure (and even bootlegs) on the cheap it was the place to go for a desperate fix. Anyway, on the walls they would have posters...
One day I saw this:

I was scarred by the experience.
Fortunately, there was another poster on the wall beside it which made me feel better:

I can still smell that quasi-coffee odor from the powder-coating ovens in the industrial zone.

You never forget that smell...I'm pretty sure someone wrote a song about it, too. I wonder if the smell is still there?
And does it stick to one's foot?

I think it's a bluegill. Pretty much the same thing. Panfish. Good eaten when fried in grease.
LOL.
Beetle-spins work well with bluegills and oscars also,
They don't call 'em panfish for nothin'.
Yummy hot out of the pan.

We use mealworms and do really well. I've caught some nice bluegill on crankbaits though. The big ones can put up a good fight.

Yea, panfish can be tons of fun.

I like to use ultralight outfits with 2 to 4lb test mono. I bring along some nice buds, and a fine cigar, tight lines and long ashes!

When I use bait instead of lures I prefer crickets, especially for crappie (speckled perch).
This is one of the reasons I love South Fl. I can fish year round. I go out to the Everglades or up to lake Okeechobee.
Always fine action.
Yea baby!
