I like it too, thats why I'm trying to find out how tests are done so I can cheat. I heard that they do urine tests, but I want to know if they are done in a clinic, the union, or where you are going to work.

My old man did for 25 years. He still pays his dues but hasn't worked out of the hall for about 5 years. The thing is, like a lot of shit, it's all about who you know. You will be drug tested when you're a journeyman or apprentice. Mostly piss and swab tests unless you give them a reason to think you're a real fuck up. I know for a fact my pops must have tested dirty dozens of times but he knew people that helped him out. I've heard crazy stories about parties on job sites and shit. They've cut a lot of that out and have toughened their drug policy because of a few highly publicized deaths on the job. If you want to get in, stop using drugs. It's not that complicated.

sometimes we have to choose things in life, and it may suck but thats how it is.
sleepy time tea... meditation, etc there are various other ways you can use other plants..marijuana is not the end all be all plant that cures things naturally.
just saying if youre serious you can look up into other herbal medications that work the same for insomnia

Do you know if your pops got tested at the locations he was going to work at, or was it at the union?

search your local's site, they may have the testing protocols listed or published somewhere.

It was always administered by the hall but with that being said if your foreman on the job pulls some strings because he suspects you're high on the job he can get you tested real quick by putting in some calls. If you say you don't want to take the test you'll get wedged out of the job. Its fucked up but the IBEW is basically like a political structure. Workers are dispensable...theres always another man next on the list to take your spot if you aren't liked by the big man. I dont want to make the union out to be a bad employer because they aren't. They were great to my dad and my family for a very long time but you gotta stay in line or know the people that can help you bend it.

I see. So every time you're going to work at a job site you have to take a urine test or swab at the local union? I would never show up to work high so I'm not worried about that.

Not necessarily, it really is kind of case by case. Like I said earlier things have changed since my dad was in his prime with the union. All I know for sure is you are most definitely going to get randomly tested during your journeyman and apprentice days. They "thin the herd" that way.

Dude to be honest if you want the job you will have to not smoke, or you'll have to detox every single day. If you don't think you can do either of those things then you will have to choose another path of work.

Sorry to Necro, but I'm curious how this worked out.
I dont smoke much anymore, but I keep piss on me every day just in case. Been in a year, haven't been tested yet, so I'm being cautious until I know what the order of operations is as far as field testing is concerned.
