First LED build CXB3590

I just can't see the point to not using lube on purpose. Is it because it's hard to clean up, or is there some advantage? When I don't use lube, the threads tend to not work as well for shorter screws. It's would be like you're shaving razor is the same thickness and bevel angle as your chef's knife and trying to shave like that.. (my analogies suck sometimes.)

Lol its called a straight edge, and thats a thing. Best shave you'll ever get with hot lather :P

Im just lazy. Aluminum doesn't really need it. Probably better to use it. I think someone once posted that e-cig juice even works well as a lube and is water soluble.
 
I was told it was crucial to use oil on the 4-40 taps (also told if you can tap that small you can tap anyrhing) I could see tapping without, but with how touchy that small of a bit those can be... why not. My dad is da man though. Tool and die and maintenance now, gave me the hookup with every size I would ever need, tapping oil, riveting gewr, etc. If I name it he knows the right way to do it. Love that guy. Love even more he and I have an open enough relationship for him to help me, talk about things on the daily, and bake him cookies/give him supply. Lol he hadn't smoked since he was my age until u moved out and he knew as soon as I did- I was gonna start growing.

We actually just got my step mom (completely anti drug, hated pit forever, to start eating cookies :) even looking forward to them) ha!

Sorry, got off track just appreciate what I have, use the oil made for it if you can, my screws go in and out with a twist of the finger after breaking the torque loose. Very smooth.

Only Time I've Broken bits is when I go into the side of a fin on the back side.

Lol sorry. Don't like takin over threads like that...try to make a point not to. Once I start my own thread, 23 days, you'll find out I take up too much interweb space and reallllly like to explain things.

I mean... he's just awesome. Built me a pulley style lock to the room and gave the idea of concealing the access point. Just 200% supportive. Kickass dude. And not an alcoholic or doesn't have his priorities out of whack, etc. I was raised GREAT, he just happens to be pro pot too. Lol

That is a good point and should be taken under advisement for those that will be getting inspected, might as well have an electrician set you up with a sub panel if you want both. I didnt run a 4 conductor wire because I have a separate run for 120V. My board looks like it is set up like that but the outlet I labeled 120V is only live when the board is plugged into 120V and that is where the 120V timer would go.

But I did do something bad, set the board up to run 240V through standard plugs so it can be swapped between 120V and 240V timers in seconds. Perfectly safe but not kosher at all. Later on I will make a 120V-240V adapter like this
