Got one tent, now I need to build another...

So I bought a grow tent off kijiji. The guy had EVERYTHING to set up the tent besides a Hydroponic system... he gave me 10inch pots for a soil grow.

I want to set up the tent as a veg or flower room.

Beside it I will close off another section for another veg or flower room with black plastic (reflective on one side).

I just need help deciding what room to make what, along with help picking one or two types of hydroponic systems for each room.

The tent is 2.3x4.3 feet (6.5 feet tall).

The space beside it is bigger at 4x4.3 feet (6.7 foot roof)

As of right now I think that I want to make the bigger space my veg room since ill have more room for my clones, mother, and 3 vegging plants.

In the tent ill have a 6 site hydro system, this way I can veg 3 plants for a month, then have room to flower for 2 months.

As for the type of hydro systems I have no idea what one to pick, there are to many and so many ways to DIY them cheep (and I have to build them cheep cuz I'm broke)

I can get 6 or 8 inch pvc for free so thats a bonus, but i'm a fan of a EBB&Drain or Drip system because they work with coco core which I have a lot of from my mushroom grow. Maybe some kind of combo pvc/drip system? Just use the pvc to collect the water from the dripper??

DOES ALL THIS MAKE SENCE???
Should I aim to have more or less plants vegging/flowering at one time?
Should I have 2 of the same hydro systems in my veg/flowering rooms and what type(s) should they be?
Should the tent be my flower room or veg room?
Any help is appreciated

Im in a similar situation I have a 2x4 tent as my veg and a couple 4x4 tents for flower and what i do to help with the space is not grow a mother but just keep taking clones from a plant that is getting ready to go into bloom. That way in my veg tent there is only about 2 big plants and a couple of clones that are a month behind those big plants there is about a week where it gets a little packed but imagine having a mother plant now that is a headache trust me.

As long as the environment doesnt change or anything else drastic happens I never see a decrease in potency from not keeping a mother and just re-cloning some may beg to differ but it saves a lot of space because a mother needs at least 7 gal pot depending on how long you keep her.

Im using cooc coir the roots organics soiless kind and I have drip stakes that come on 2 times a day for 1 min in early flower then 3 times in mid/late bloom its drain to waste works great with coco ,4 stakes in each 5 gal smart pot gives off roughly about a half a gallon each feed since you have the coco you might as well use it like you said. I just hand water my veg plants every other day to give it the dry period so the roots reach out more when I do water I give about half of whatever the pot size is.

As far as what space to make your veg I would choose the smaller one because once those plants start blooming they are going to need some room especially with a month veg like you plan, in my 4x4 bloom tent I have 2 plants under a scrog and it fills out the entire 4x4 canopy imagine that in a 2x4 space. Although you can get away growing a bunch of small plants in that 2x4 area which would make better for a bigger veg since you will have to have tons of clones constantly and I'm talking straight from rooted to bloom or a couple weeks in veg then bloom. Hope this helps!!

Hey thanks so much! Helped a lot.

I just spent the day cutting up 2"x4"s to build the 4'x4' ghetto tent that will sit next to my official 2'x4' tent, putting it all together tomorrow (pics coming) :)

Also, I cut up some PVC tubing... I have two 4foot long sections at 8inches thick and one 4foot section at 6inches thick. Im pretty set on using 5inch round net pots (cuz there the ones I have for free) and have a drip system feeding 3 plants in each PVC tube. Kali Kid changed my mind, and iv decided to use the official 2'x4' tent as my veg room with the one 6" thick PVC and then put the two 8" thick PVCs in my 4'x4' bloom room so the roots have more room and so do the plants!

Now, I am open to aeroponics... but, I think my 5inch pots will be to big for aero?? Thats why I'm leaning towards drip, what do you guys think? Buy smaller pots and do aero? or do a drip system? All the tubing would be the same its just the pot size and either drip heads or sprayers at the ends.........

As for clones ill be keeping them in there own space under my bed (there is 2' 7" of hight under there so just a few T5s and i'm set)

For my mother I'm thinking about cutting the PVC in the veg room a foot shorter so its only 3 feet with 3 plants and then utilizing that extra 1'x2' space to hold my mother in a self contained drip or bubble bucket. Is this a good idea or will it be to crammed?? if its to crammed I guess ill cut my clones like Kali Kid or find another space in my house just for my mommy.

BTW lights arn't an issue, I have soooo many... here is a list:
(1) 600w HPS air cooled (flower room)
(2) 90w LED ufos (flower room)
(6) 4 foot T8's (veg room)
(4) 4 foot T5's (clones under bed)
(2) 2 foot T8's (idk yet)
Plus a bunch or random sized cfls that look like they fit normal light sockets...
Maybe ill surround my mother with the 2 footers and other cfls?? :/

I do the same thing as Kali. No need for a mother. Or sometimes I have one extra clone that I use to mother but let her go after I cut off of her.

Larger space for flower for sure.

hmm ok, How do you know what branches to cut and what ones to keep?? I would guess that it Is easy to tell what sections of the plant will bud so you just avoid cutting thos branches.... but I honestly have no idea, Iv never even seen a plant before, once my seeds sprout that will be the first time I ever see weed growing :D

Any input on the Aeroponics vs Hydro drip system both set up in PVC tubes?

If you have never seen a plant before, then I would really advise to keep it simple and grow in soil until you have some comfort level with it.

When cutting clones, you basically need to cut a "top" off of it. What I do is top the plant once (which creates two tops). Then I let those grow out a bit and begin LST (you can find info on it here at RIU). That gives me a plethora of tops to cut. I like to cut when they are about 2" long.

I cant do soil as I have no place to make a soil mix... my house is SMALL. I'v also heard that hydro is better for beginners, soils a nice medium, and then aero being the hardest. So I guess I kinda just answered my own question about hydro vs aero lol.

Ok thanks, searching it up now!

No place to make a soil mix??? I use a tote I bought at wal-Mart. Or just buy a bag of fox farms.

Admittedly, I have only grown soil. But getting into anthing else as I understand requires fine control of water temp, ph stability, etc. It is more complex for a newbie.

IMHO, with I think about 2.5 yrs growing, the hardest thing is figuring out what to do when a plant goes awry. The more variables, the harder it is to figure out and the more likely one is to fuck thngs up worse.

In any case, I am comfortable saying soil is simplest and does not require any more space... I want to go hydro, but once I got comfy in my soil environment, I've got so many experiments going to improve it, I don't think it will happen for some time.
