If 42% of those who died while under arrest were white, and 33% of those who died while under arrest were black, then from those statistics one can conclude that white people are more likely (about 1/3 more likely) to die while under arrest.

It is true that blacks are arrested much more often than whites, but after being arrested a greater percentage of whites die than blacks.

If you want fewer people arrested, murdered, beaten, and buggered, then end the drug war. I am pretty sure you agree with that. The government has fucked up everybody's life in the US, blacks most of all.

All lives matter. Nobody should be murdered by the police or anybody else.

DD, I didn't come here for a fight either. I cited a lot of statistics to try to make a point. I wasn't trying to use statistics to confuse but obviously I did.

Starting with what UB said:

If there was no bias in our population, one would expect 13% if those who die in arrest related incidents to be black. The 33% that actually die, is between two and three-times the expected value of 13% These numbers only say that blacks die in a disproportionate number than whites while being arrested. The unrest in Baltimore and in other cities in this country centers on this fact.

You claim that this is entirely due to the war on drugs. I think that the war on drugs is a part of the problem. I could cite other statistics around this if you want. However, I think you can agree that blacks have been given a hard time by the police in this country for a lot longer than the war on drugs has been around. It's got to stop.

But yeah, end the war on drugs, end police brutality on the population of the US and we will be moving in the right direction.
