Problem with Diy is warranty there is known one fuck up and you threw your money away like i said depending on what the grower wants or has for room LED might be a good choice i am not defending Hid lighting i use what works for me and my situation
there are many advancements in grow lights one being CMH this is another possible way of going instead of led lighting
its what works best for your situation

As for Chip on board ( cob ) i believe there are heat issues also the angle 120 degree which also suffers in par on outside of grow area here a 4 x 4 scrog to achieve 6 oz that is terrible not sure how many plants he ran lol but non of the less terrible

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=114&v=r65mzeu03Po

then lets look at a 400 watt HPS grow 1 plant enough said

again as for me having 2 Flower rooms 6 k 3 in each i achieve 15.5 pounds every 84 days 7.75 pounds per room 3 k not including 3/4 pound of hash from trimmings per room this is being effcient
You can't compare the spider cobs to diy panels. We use Cree CX series and Bridgelux Veros. And why he got 6oz is because that panel doesn't have the right light spectrum and I bet you it's not even 432watts. You are wrong about the heat I don't have any heat issues I can't wait until winter so I can turn them up from 350ma to 700ma and I'm gonna be making a couple of 500ma panels but I gotta be careful those panels are 400v it can kill you lol. But I know to ground it on the heat sink, safety first

I think that we basically agree with each other. Heat is not an issue with recent COBs, though.
450g from a 400W HPS is a very good result. Not that many growers are getting such results regularly. But there's also the fact that the same amount of photons can be produced with about 200-250W of top quality COBs.

7.75 lbs from 3k watts? Are you growing big bud? lol. Can we see pics of your setup?

i am claiming 2.5 + pounds per 1 k 75 sq feet of scrog 12 plants 3 k = 7.79 pound harvests best i ever done was 7 pounds 2 k = almost 1.6 GPW
all i am saying is do what works for you if LED is your choice run with it do your best
Its like saying vertical out yields horizontal yet when you look at it on paper ??? it should be out yielding Horizontal but is it ??? see where i am going ..
this is a good debate if we are civil
I do not conform to one side vs the other ,, I am cool to critique them both .. Efficiency is a huge figure,,but in reality it doesn't translate to yield .. That is fact based on grow after grow a person would be foolish to ignore that ..
lets use Vertical growing for A example ,, in vert 101 it states that vertical is 135 percent more efficient
So lets see here a bare basic flat grow under 600 will yield you 14 - 16 oz ????
135 percent more 35 oz which is a massive figure for a 600 thats a mediocre grow
If you go to the upper end of what that 600 could achieve ??? then you multiply that by 135 percent your talking stupid numbers..
So the numbers are not stalking up in the real world application see where i am going peeps what might look good on paper might not work in real world
Same thing applies for everything specially LED
LEd is a perfect example of fooling people into believing its the end all and only way to go
there marketing is complete nonsense foolish hell even there data is a joke
claiming it be a a 600 watt yet actual draw is 345 watt sorry to slap your forehead 600 watts is 600 watts 345 is 345 since when does 345 equate to 600 so until LED smartens really the fuck up i will sit back and let other guppies roll the dice

And like i said been pondering adding LED as supplemental lighting i will repeat my self NOT A STAND ALONE FIXTURE and seriously looking at the MARS least its reasonable priced with that said i am not expecting miracles

You really don't know anything about Cree CX series and you keep saying what the fake led companies are saying and not listening to the guys who know led. I'm no expert but I know who knows their shit and you obviously don't You keep saying what we already know. But haven't said anything we don't know. I panels that I have I'm testing them right now. Like I've replied to you before I own mars panels 2 different worlds. I haven't tried gavita but almost bought the LEP when they first can out but found out about the heat issue they were super heat. And you really don't know about efficiency not only lower heat you can spread the light even better with deeper penetration lower heat mean less ac less fan like exhaust. I don't get it what are you guys afraid of? That if you made a panel and you saw it worked like I did. I've spent $8400 and I still have 5 more panels to make. Soon real soon you'll see a room with 4800 true watts using the Cree CXB 3590's which each panel at 400 true watts will cover a 2x4 area with ease so it would be a 24x48 area= efficiency

if you guys with some kind of education just read what these companies are producing you'd quickly realize this is a real deal especially when you compare them to our traditional lighting sources if you guys are focused on "he didnt yield/produce as big as me" and thats your only reason then your just to lazy to learn new things with the increase in power from this light in addition to your arrogant growing technique you'd understand how great this awesome cluster of leds is

Darth Vapour knows how to grow weed. the proof is in the pudding.

@ Darth. LED potentially offers you a way to reduce your electricity overheads by 30%.
However there will be a large upfront cost.
Do a veg tent first, the savings will be noticeable. (we think) see how it goes?

You are still showing junk leds show me one that they're comparing one of my lights to theirs. All I see is cheap fake led disco lights. So when I finish my shit then what?
No no you show me :) biggest craze now is the corn on the cob lol but yet we will sit patiently waiting for yet another failure for led in another year there will be yet another break through in LED and COB will be ditched to the next gen lol and so on and so on but lets not forget the money wasted for that grower trying to keep up and a fixture that can replace a commercial grade Light until then i will wait patiently and keep harvesting when all he had to do is purchase a Gavita , or Nano lux like picture below :) or dimlux lighting system
best bang for the buck is in that box

Why are you showing other peoples grow? If you hitting the weight you say you are why not make a panel I only need 10 watts per sq ft to veg nice plants. I only used 372 watt for a 4 x 8 tent.

Well that's it right there do exactly what your capable of doing IMO the 30 percent savings is not overnight savings but through out the 5 years again we need to separate 30 percent savings to yield ratio like that light bulb you purchased shows a savings in electricity after 1 year use
Also with that large upfront cost to re coup that is not one grow or 2 its a bunch of grows
I say give it a shot ,, if anything you will have a LED unit to can always put beside something else like a hps

only picture that is not mine is that warehouse grow And to be honest 10 watts per sq foot will be like watching paint dry lol

Were you good at math? If you are using 30% less and getting the same yield why would it take a year? I'm sorta slow so you're gonna have to explain in better detail, instead of you rambling nonsense. When I do that I do it on purpose just ask the guys on here about me. But I'm being serious not trying to be a dick.
