Hey, folks.....got an emergency newbie question. Hope you all can help.

Helping a friend with a tent grow, he has a 2x4 tent and is using a 180W UFO LED light. IF this isn't the exact model he is using, it is awful close http://www.amazon.com/Eyourlife-12-Band-Indoor-Hydroponic-Growing/dp/B00CIOEUP2

Anyway, from what I can tell, it is not enough light to take care of 8sq ft, and I told him so....so he is thinking about getting a 2nd light to spread out through the tent. Not a big deal now, he only has 3 inch seedlings, but maybe later it will be necessary.

I looked at a few on the web/Amazon for him (he's not a computer guy, doesn't even have a cellphone.Good people though), and we liked the look of this one from Apollo Horticulture, and it is right on the price point he can afford.

Both feature full spectrum lighting (veg AND flowering, I guess) , and have 100 LED bulbs. Going by wattage alone, we figure that this might do the trick...but I confess that we are woefully ignorant on this stuff. Trying to learn all the ins and outs, but he needs to get something quickly. At this point he is just looking to get us through a few grows with the thing, not making a lifetime investment.

Thoughts on these products, or any advice?

I can't see myself ever buying an LED light from either Ebay or Amazon, at least not with the intentions of using it to grow plants.

The vero series looks like some great lamps...but too rich for our blood right now. Maybe in a few years...

I'm trying to see if I can stay around 150.00+/- ..... which is why I was asking about the cheaper Apollo and Galaxy lamps.

Funny looking at the Vero though....while I see what they are doing, it still seems odd to see an LED grow light with only 4 source points......and knowing it will outperform a bank of 10x10 LEDs

Both Apollo and Galaxy are shit. HPS would be much better.

He actually has a HID 600Watt with a cool tube... But temps in the room regularly hit 90+. LED seems the better fit, as the fans are noisy.

Aren't there any less expensive LED solutions?
