my ladies are to tall help!!

Greetings RIU'ers

I have ( 2 ) 5ft ladies. They were originally mothers and my buddy said he needed the space so I took them home and Flipped them 12/12 they have stretched and are almost touching my air cooled hood (not good) the tops are getting all the light. My other friend said to bend the tops .

Good idea or bad ?

Any help is greatly appreciated

On another note day 11 of bloom after taking some pictures I'm thinking these have some spider mites or potentially infected with BROAD MITES. I had them not to long ago I believe I did get rid of them.. by spraying down my entire room with nuke em and starting over ... these look to show the same symptoms as the ones that were confirmed to have broad mites.. NOTICE the wilted bud sites ? And lack of structure ?

What do you guys see and think?

When looking for mites you look at the under side of the leaf, you can see Lil black spots and they move

Also if those were mine I would cut that wire think off and go as low as I could and tie those branches down to the pot and slowly tighten them each day then get some bamboo steaks to support the top

Just as an option if you have the ability (as in the space and time to allow this) you could always clone in large waves and 12/12 until the mother is out of shoots. Just my theory i might be way off on this. Obviously everyones grow is set up different just something i had thought about doing instead of flowering my whole mom at once.

I appreciate your personal advice. I was given the 2 mothers. One seems like its flowering better then the other (Romulan looks better off) The UW Purple looks wilted with really small buds ( they remind me of the buds that were created with the plants that did have broad mites (That have since been trashed and replaced after sterilization of grow area) I still do NOT see any mites or any indication so I'm wondering what it could be... As for the Wire it came on the Plant. I Guess I could take it off but its there to just support the branches. I have started to notice a whiff of the plants now that they are over 10 days into flower... I guess I will take the metal wire cage off and also put in a fresh 400w HPS BULB.

When u take the cage of make sure you have some four foot bamboo steaks so you can place one or two per side to support the plant.... So a total of 4~8 then cut the bamboo to wrap around the vertical bamboo steaks and make some rings around them...... make the vertical bamboo lean outwards...... then I would try to tie those very long stems from one side to the other side if they will bend...... but don't break your plant.... be careful

Don't forget the zip ties.... So when you bend the stems outwards and down you can attach them to your new wider bamboo cage made with bamboo and zip ties...... also when you place the vertical bamboo make sure you put them on the edges.... you might have to drill a few holes in the top of the pot and zip tie them to the pot so when you start pulling down on the plant and attach it to your new bamboo cage if dose not lift your steaks

I cant bend them over I checked .. they are too tall, thick and stiff from flowering.. its to late in the game..

Unfortunately I gave them back to my buddy.

I only had them in my area for 2 weeks... NOW I can work with my usual 4 week veg cycle and THEN flip. They were just too big for my 4x2x5 area...

.... THE GOOD NEWS!!!!

NOW I have >> U.W purp (university of washington), blue rhino, purple sour diesel, dutch treat

I normally veg under 400W MH ..

I'd like to experiment with more lumens

should I veg under 600w or 1000w this time and why?

I have the same height as you. If you get a 1k MH get a dimmable one. 5ft total -1ft from hood - 1 ft from hood to top = 3ft total height. I have blue dream sat doms under 3ft lol. Every day she just wants to reach for the hps!

I had a thread about it on RIU. Anyways here is a pic a few hours old. They were at 26" 3 days ago cropped them down to 21" but she still trying to stretch any way she can,this specific 1kw 20150508_185808_HDR.jpg box is made for short girls. Anything past 29" and im probably going to have some radiant heat problems.
