So im looking to upgrade from my 650w of T8s and CFLs to 600-1000w of HPS.

Im looking to keep the budget 200-250 and from what ive been finding on amazon it could be done. They might be cheap brands but thats ok with me right now.

this is what i found so far, what are your opinions on these or feel free to post your own links of something you think is better inside my budget. Thanks a ton!

600w yield lab

Yield lab or apolo would be the most reliable cheapest option. I would reccomend the closed air cooled hood like the yield lab. More cooler than the cool tube. Dont forget ducts and cooling fans. You live in a hot area right?

Yes my grow area right now with CFLs is 80-90F

The problem is its a closet grow, i have no where to hook the ducts up to, maybe run them up to the attic? or out the closet? The good thing is there is an attic door in the closet and it is a big closet... ~ 8ft long 3-4 wide 10ft high

i have one fan, but its obvious i need more, i wasnt prepare for the CFLs to get so hot.

First one is better because u can take the glass off..my homie gb told me to take off the glass I'm only 18 days in flower and they are blowing up...it only gets a few degrees hotter than when I had the glass in..I still air cool it.

When i used to grow in closets i would take 1 door out, cover the opening with cardboard, gorilla tape the gaps and hook 2 6" ducts up high and 2 6" ducts down low. Have one of your top ducts pull air from the hid hood and the other top duct pull closet air, keep it up high. Same with the lower ducts, one to the hood intake and one next to the bottom of your plants container. Put a sock or something over the intake(closet side) so it doesnt suck bugs. Mount your 2 120mm fans to your top ducts on the cardboard. Whats your room temp? (the room the closet is inside) and do you have windows near by?

Make sure to use the lights at night btw.20150512_191248_HDR.jpg20150512_191311_HDR.jpg i pull from outside and it hells big time. Of course that is with 1200watts of lights. I had to shut my intake off earlier while i was working on my cab. With no lights and no intake it got up to 85f. Just to show that a good ventilation setup can pull even ambient temps down as long as where you are pulling from is 10f cooler.

My only problem with the first one is that it has the least amount of reviews on amazon.. it only has 9 reviews to the other which have 25-40. Im big on reviews although its not a deal breaker. If you give your word that its good im cool with that. have u used the first one before?

i dont have any windows close by, i do have the attic door in the closet though. the room temp stays around 75F where the closet with the lights jumpes to 80 to sometimes 90

Im not that savvy with tools so what your explaining has me scared as simple as it might sound to you lol

No I know nothing about the brand. But they do offer a decent warranty. The hood style in general is way better...cool tubes are cheap shits...closed air cool able hoods are just a superior fixture. imo.

perhaps i need to do more research before i make a final decision, i was going to buy it tonight. I still might but maybe i should look for what i want that has the closed air cool hood instead included.

Im 90% sure, by pulling your 75f air with 250cfm + each exhaust, with a 400w HPS it should stay below 82f thats what happens to mine at triple the power.
