kind of curious too. is it mostly the genetics, where the more volume the buds, the better, and not necessarily THC content? or is it like the op said, where its just the result of no effort. seems like they, whoever they are, would kill the males so that seeds dont show up, so im leaning towards effort

My brother lives a few miles from a large scale grow in Mexico. What they do there (not sure about other places) is plant, do no sexing, come back in a few months, harvest with reckless abandon. There usually is no drying period other than the time it takes for it to get processed while it bakes in the sun. The cure happens while it is in brick form while being transported north. It really all depends on what kind of operation it is.....large scale south of the border...pretty much what I said above, smaller scale and usually someone takes the time and love the plants need to properly care for, trim, dry and cure.

When I lived in Texas a few years ago, that crap was plentiful!! I do mean crap. 600 per pound. Sticks and stems everywhere! I always thought if the would just put a little effort into the grow, they could make a killin!! But thats just my 2 cents!!

True ditchweed comes from the strain c. ruderalis. It doesn't matter how much care you put into growing it, it has virtually no THC and gives you a fine headache. There are fields of hemp like this growing in Texas and Oklahoma and it's not worth bothering with. Bad growing, drying or curing will also produce crappy schwag from otherwise good weed-but genetics can make it impossible to produce quality smoke.

Some strains like lowrider are actually hybrids of c. ruderalis and inherit the autoflowering traits of ruderalis with the THC content of good indica or sativa.

Major operations in mexico like shipinit said, in the midwest, urban gangsters try to sell hemp as weed, kentucky is a hemp farming state, and some of it gets ripped off and sold as weed.

Basically schwag is ditchweed, no gardening involved, canabis is a native plant to north america.
