I do it mostly to get back into shape after lazing around on the computer all winter, I too love growing stuff and it really kills me to pay $3.50 for a little thing of cherry tomatoes at the store. I love the bags of peppers and buckets of tomatoes for freezing, pickling and making sauce.what's funny is that it just dawned on me last night that i can eat everything i am growing.
i did this mainly because i like growing stuff, secondly because i like building stuff, and third to get some sweat equity out of the house.
I sell some of mine to a local group who then sell it at their veggie and farmers market stands, before I just used to give it away but I'm growing a lot more now than I was then... well maybe not this year if these monsoon rains don't let up. It has been raining about 10 days now, right when I should be getting a lot of stuff planted and the ground is totally saturated, the lettuce is loving it though.
