Who do you think they are? I'll narrow mine to active rock drummers, but feel free to mention anybody you'd like.

1- Tim Alexander (Primus)
1- Matt Cameron (Soundgarden/Pearl Jam)
1- Chad Smith (RHCP)
1- Reed Mullin (Corrosion of Conformity, and so totally underrated!)
1- Lars Ulrich (Metallica)

I expect Neil Peart from Rush to be on everyone's list. We will just make him a free space. =)

poor drummers, kind of sad that you have to list the band they're from since no one knows, unless they're a drummer too, lolz.
I know, right? The average listener rarely appreciates the drummer.

What did the drummer say right before he got fired?
'Hey guys..check out the new song I wrote'
Matt Cameron is the perfect exception. One of my most favorite Soundgarden tunes is one he wrote, Fresh Tendrils.

Pearl jam fan here but Matt Cameron is in your top 5 all time? And bonham isnt? I'm stunned. Matt's with the band for the most part because he can play 3 hour shows 20 times a year for long tours year after year but he's about as creative as a rock. He's a machine, yes, but don't expect anything interesting from him. All his tempo is 4/4 and the rhythm never changes.

I think everyone gave free passes to peart moon and bonham or they would be on most lists

Wow what a list , not a single mention of the most technically proficient drummers ever .

1 Terry Bozzio, most couldnt even play his kit.

2 Chad Wackermam .

3 Billy Cobham .

4 Lenny White .

5 Chester Thompson .

Keith Moon & John Bonahm were both jokes & werent fit to wipe Buddy Rich or Gene Krupas asses .

Fancy showmenship yes , technically proficient drumming no .
