The helvar looks a lot like the meanwell lcm.....lots of crossover parts it seems. Meanwell a reseller? I thought they were designing these drivers themselves until I saw the lsdpower resemblance.
Oh well, whoever has the best price I guess..

@stardustsailor @Positivity @SupraSPL @churchhaze i sourced an inventronics quad-channel 160w 1.05a driver. I want to do 4 cobs on a 24" x 4.75" heatsink with 2 120mm fans. Having a hard time deciding between vero 18 and 29. Was thinking of doing 3500k or 4000k. What would you guys do?

Build a light that is superior to HPS to be able to get your return on that investment. So Vero 29. I use 3500k.

Just gotta think about how those lights will be spread. V18/V13's really spread the light (and heat) nicely over the canopy, with V29's you may notice a difference in the buds directly under each light, and the heat can be intense directly under them.
I have some Vero13 2.0's driven at 350mA and my strawberries don't seem to mind being a few inches away.

The cost for the Vero 18 is lower, maybe averaging as much $.50 per PAR W less than a V29...but at a lower efficiency averaging around 4% difference...
Myself I am always drawn to efficiency due to my circumstances, but it would be tough to argue that amount of savings, for not much of a penalty in efficiency
Go for the V18's unless you want to run 3amps in the future ala the V29.....

Thanks guys! I was thinking that the 18's would be more forgiveable when it comes to canopy distance and spread. I really liked the 4000k on the last 4 panels but i'm thinking 3500k for this one. Plus it seems 4000k is tough to be had these days looking at stock numbers on digikey.Just gotta think about how those lights will be spread. I just built a bar of 4x v2 Vero18s dimmable from 1050mA down to 525mA.
I made sure to get 90CRI versions (3000k,4000k) just to piss those select few people off~ Need my connectors so I can fire it up already...
All leftover aluminum/fans from other various projects... Frankenlight~~

Yeah I think I'm going to copy that setup. I was looking at Cree's CXB3070 but the price difference for the vero's and that driver is super tempting at 1/4 price
I can always use the vero bar for a veg. light later and build a cree one.

If your going to build a Vero, mine as well Use a Vero, everyone likes Cree because we have more. Grows using them and that is all how this obsession started (thx supra) but from every page I read and specs, the Vero cobs are better at running high w(75), so it's more up to how many watts you want to run.Yeah I think I'm going to copy that setup. I think a lot of it has to do with efficiency also. 3590 gets up to 50% efficiency when run soft, which blows HPS/MH out of the water, which is what a lot of people are trying to achieve. So if you are aiming for the highest efficiency possible a Cree chip driven soft is the way to go.
Once you start cranking up the amperage on the Bridgelux chips the efficiency drops off to about 40% (maybe a little lower for the Vero29 driven hard).
Just about to finish up my first grow with my Vero's. Can't beat the price point, efficiency, and performance when driven hard, which also allows you to use fewer chips. I'll snap some pictures of my one plant of decent genetics. All my bag seeds hermied.
Still going to try to finish them out, spent the last few weeks of flower picking nanners off, I'm sure I will be finding plenty of seeds in this crop. Was able to separate the strain that seemed to be shooting off more.
I guess we all figure out sooner or later that is just isn't worth the time and effort to plant those damn bag seeds
