a closet with a sheet as the door and i have a fan on low for ventilation. how long into the grow until i need to take action on food, topping, and basic maintenance

What kind of nutes do you have ?
I would let them get a little stronger (older) before nutes IMO but its your call
Depending on your room if you want to top,fim, or just train them to grow short and bushy but if size is not an issue since you have a closet then let them grow
Everytime you top or fim it takes a while to recover in my experience so if you looking for speed, let them grow as is and just maybe some LST if time is no issue then top and fim and see how crazy they get but you will be in veg longer
And maintenance? I dunno
blowing on them, thanks for the info man, whats the expected time till vegetation and flowering? ive done alot of research but havent seen any straight answers. and should i have them on a light schedule 18/6 or 24 hr? ill put some pics up of my set up after work tomorrow

Alright good definitely need a fan on them controls temp and makes them nice and strong
But you will also need a way to circulate air in and out of your closet so that you dont have just stale air
And well the 24/0 vs 18/6 debate haha
You ll find a lot of info on here supporting both and why both are bad
My little one is on 24/0 only because its easier for me since i dont have a place to keep her yet so i just move her around and just make sure she is always get light so she is always awake
And she is growing quite nicely even after some growth issues
Ive done 18/6 and it worked just as good
So its up to you with what you feel more comfortable with
Just remember fans on 24/7
And veg aslong as you like the more you veg the bigger she ll big but if size and time are and issue them less time
Hard to give exact time for veg as its all on preference and your situation just remember once you flip to flower 12/12 she ll get 2-3 times bigger so watch out
And flowering depends on your strains indica 8 to 9 weeks IMO sativa 12ish weeks

I would wait on topping looks like you have some stretch going how far are your lights from the girls and lst is light stress training, basically you get the plant to grow how you want it to bend it down tie it down with zip ties works great for tight spaces some LST a little some LST a lot
do what works for you
If you check my grow out you see what i mean my plants look like Frankenstein hit them with an ugly stick but they are growing and smell yummy i have duck tape and zip ties everywhere bend them everywhich way and they dont seem to care one bit

You need more light. What are going to flower with. The amount of light you're using will hardly even veg one plant
