2x4 vs 4x4 vs 3x3 tent

I will be doing my first grow and have room for 1 of the 3 tents listed. Out of the 3, which is your favorite size and how many plants do you feel fit in each tent? I will be using LED lighting, feel free to chime in with your favorite led light/tent size combo if you are familiar with both!

well it really depends more on how many plants your looking to do... i personally wouldn't do under 4x4 only because at worst you have extra space to your plants to spread.. 2x4 gets too tight 2x2 is really tight IMOP... i use 4x4 for my clones and that is kind tight to fit everything in it along with shelving for clones.. but its definitely enough.. you could get 9 fairly easy in a 4x4... i mean you can always squeeze but 3 rows of 3 gives about 1.3 sqft per plant

plus if you do smaller than 4x4 and maybe decided one day you wanna go HPS .. you really need a 4x4 to run 400-600HPS .. IMOP but i mean people queeze shit into smaller areas all the time.. but your going to be happier with more space.

If you only have 4x4 space you may want to think about getting 2 2x4 so you could have veg and flower space ya dig? But ya, I definitely get more bang for my buck out of the larger tents..

Also, I like my mars hydro tent that I sniped for 50 better than I like my secret jardin fwiw.. Good luck!

Thanks for all the input. I was hoping a 4x4 could fit 9 fairly comfortably but wasn't sure. Safe to say a 3x3 would fit 5 plants comfortably and a 2x4 fits 3? I thought of doing two 2x4's like was mentioned but seems like I can get more out of a 4x4. I could also split that 4x4 in half if needed.

I have a 4x4 tent downstairs, I use 5 gallon pots (taller ones) I have a total of 5 sorta in a ( X ) formation. 2 in the back 2 in the front 1 in the middle.. Works well as log as you don't over veg. Be careful because after 12/12 and initial stretch your space between plants becomes scarce.

I used to run a 2 by 2 with 250 HPS it was four feet tall and was ventilated with two computer fans. I was able to cram in 12 plants that were N 6 inch containers and one circulating fan on the floor. typically I ran without veggingtoo long maybe a week. and most of the time the plants grow straight up like a spear typical yields were about a quarter pound every 60 days

I have a 3x3. Its bigger than I imagined. Awesome size tho. I'm putting 4 to 5 plants maximum in there. The rule of thumb to follow is 1 plant/2 sqft. I'll throw you an example. If you have a 4x4 tent. 4x4=16 sqft. 16/2=8. So you can fit 8 plants comfortably. Good luck growing!

I've found a 600 cannot really adequately light a 4x4...just my experience.

@flowamasta would be my go to guy for advice on this... he grows the most amazing plants in a tent about this size, maybe 3x3 under a 600W HPS.

Modified hempy, supercrops to get up to twenty tops, easily over a pound to one and a quarter a run... from just one plant! Kills it. Stone dead.

Plant count all depends on pot size and veg time. Less plants, larger pots, longer veg time. More plants, smaller pots, shorter veg times. Me personally, I like 4 plants in 10g pots for every 4x4 area and veg for aprox 4 weeks depending on strain.

I finished my first harvest a few weeks ago, maybe a month.
I started with a 3x3, but when I was setting it up I realized it wasn't rated to hold my light and carbon filter's weight, so I bought a gorilla lite line 4x4, with the 1-foot height extension. It worked very well and I dunno what I would have done without the extra height. Probably just would have yielded less with less height, I got about 3/4ths of a pound out of 465 watts (cmh and led) on my first run in the 4x4.

along the way I got a 2x4 tent for drying the plants in, and also for use with males and stuff like that. For a time I had my 4x4 flower tent, 3x3, and 2x4 tents all set up next to each other, using the 3x3 for veg with a cmh and the 2x4 for keeping the veg plants I couldn't fit in the 3x3 with some t5s. Just the other day I splurged and got a 5x5 for flower so I made the 4x4 my veg tent. Now I have a 2x4 and 3x3 in the garage. The 2x4 might come out for drying but honestly I think you could flower like 2 or 3 plants at the very very most in either of those sizes. If you can only have one tent, get the biggest you can, I can't even veg a good four plants in a 3x3, since I want to transplant them to 7 gallons before they go into flower, there's not even enough floor space if I have an oscillating fan on a stand.
And also, if space is your only problem and money isn't, buy a gorilla tent, the extra height is so helpful!
