Two things..
The cutting I have came from a similar mob and was about 20cm long. My guess is that it doesn't really matter just as long as the cutting is long enough to have enough reserves within it to keep going until it can access fluids etc from the medium you put it in. All the cuttings they sell seem to be from 15cm to 50cm.Two things..
It says 'shady but well lit'..wtf?
And..never says how long the cuttings are supposed to be..I thank you tho for the info!!
I honestly have no clueWill you please walk me thru cutting em for more pups or sprites or ..I NEED MORE!!DAMMIT!
Really,I got 3 in a 3 gallon pot in pro-mix HP and feed em my garden leftovers, they're 28in tall or so and I've only had em since last Oct..I wanna fill up this 25gal tree planter I have so I can wheel the bastards in this winter, and keep em Poppin till i can wheel em back out next spring..thing is I obviously don't know a fucken thing about em,and don't wanna kill em trying to get more..
Help me out? I promise I won't get spun...
Cool..I think I'll try the smallest,@1ft,and cut it into 3rds...I know cacti are hardy..some states ban planting certain species because they can't be eradicated once they get going..kinda like bamboo. The cutting I have came from a similar mob and was about 20cm long. My guess is that it doesn't really matter just as long as the cutting is long enough to have enough reserves within it to keep going until it can access fluids etc from the medium you put it in. And you know me,I won't be happy till I MOW them as grass on my lawnGo a little slower.
Cut off the growing tip of each.
Six to eight inches. Let them scab over for a week and then put them each in a new pot.
Water every other week until you see new growth, then once a week in summer.
The ones you took the cuttings off of should be watered a little more frequently. You will get from one to six pups on each one.
They will grow pretty quick. I let them grow a season then cut them all (if the root stock is healthy). And plant. If the stock is split or they or not very green I will leave one sprite go.
I started with three four inch ones ten years ago. I've given maybe thirty away, cut forty feet and have fifty plants or sprites. This is my last propagation year. I should get fifty feet a year from now on
I could look that up but you could tell me more of what I want to know ...Thanks to lowes for my 2 new cacti. Wasn't Pedro but stenocereus pruinosus. That's all they had.. Definitely going back
I'm not very knowledgeable in the cacti world either but I did a quick erowid search and it contains mescaline. Supposedly grows slower than Pedro but that's all I've gathered so far. I know this is not always true but look for the ones without a flower that are plain and kind of ugly lolI could look that up but you could tell me more of what I want to know ...
Trippy?
I'm not a succulent/cacti person..I've got a Christmas cactus and some San Pedro..lol..
