This may sound like a dumb question, but im having a tough time finding this stuff, its one of the last few things I need. Preferably in a slightly chunky or course bag. I've checked lowes, walmart, home depot, and menards. Next stop is probably a hydro shop, but I figured it would be more expensive there.

Thats weird cause ive purchased perlite from 3 of those locations
they all claimed to have natural coarse perlite in a big bag on the website, yet in every single store I've been to, they only have small bags of the miracle grow crap.

thats a horrible deal. 3.5 cu ft for double the price? No thanks.

Really? Hmm...I've only seen the small bags in stores and when I found this giant bag I thought it was a great deal.

your local box store may not stock it if there has been no demand. you can go online at their sites and order and have delivered to your local store for pickup usually at no shipping charge. I get mine at a mom and pop garden center, 4CF for about $18. Any nursery that sells annual and perennial plants will have it somewhere, maybe not out for general retail customers.

perlite ain't special ..if no perlite use sand or clean river gravel/stones, anything neutral is good ...even smashed car windscreen glass is good

It is not crap, it will work, but it is overpriced and (because) it is infused with nutrients which I neither want nor need.

Purchase if you cannot find unadulterated perlite.
It will do what it is supposed to do. Simply adjust your feeding concentrate downward.

Because of the poor quality, time released nutrients. those themselves will throw off any feeding schedule you had already planned. not to mention i'd rather not buy a small bag like 8qts even if it werent miracle gro

Obviously you live in a non MM or recreational state. Go to your local mom & pop nursery. You don't need to help out Home Depot or Walmart. Those bastards make...,I mean, steal, all the money they need. Help out an independent businessman. FWIW, in Oregon, 4 cubic feet (36"x12"x16" for the math impaired) of perlite is $10-$12 at the local grow shops.

I actually am in a medical state. Michigan. not farm land either. In the city. Were you referring to a garden supplies place or a hydroponics shop?
