How many of you know what hpv is btw?

But seriously you need to sit down and talk with your kids, or they will take anything flashy the doc sticks in their face.

My parents had open chat on anything medical regarding myself, and allowed me the choices as it was my body and choices for the future health of myself on anything. As you can tell I didn't get flu shots. lol

HPV is allegedly the virus that causes cervial cancer. Cervial cancer is very treatable if detected early. It is very important to talk to your daughters about the important of yearly routine pap smears. Even if they insist that they've never been sexually active still take them to the gyno and make them go through that appointment.

We had this mother / daughter pap smear day where we'd go together and she'd see her doc and I'd see mine. We started when she was 14 and I knew she wasn't having sex but I felt it was urgent to make her establish that routine.

While we're here, also talk to your daughters about self breast exams. It's never to early to develop that habit either.

And remember

CONDOMS , CONDOMS , CONDOMS...........

Thats my point. She has another medical condition that I have to keep in mind with medications. I know this shot does not fall into one I need to watch, but she does not know this and had the shot anyway. Which is the basis for my moment of being pissed off. Its the simple fact that I may know a few things she doesnt, I can bring things to light, for example she cant have the polio vacination, but it does not really matter because they dont give that one anymore. I do blame her too, for not telling the doctor to come and get me just as much as I blame the doctor for not talking to me about it as well, you know it basically boils down to common courtesy.

I had another slight incident a few weeks ago along the same lines. My son needed some booster shots, and the doc was wanting to give him the flu shot. I said no to that one. He has never had the flu, I have never had the flu, his sister has never had the flu, and never had the shot either. On some things I think nature should be left to fix itself. My kids are healthly, athletic, and never get sick and I just have serious problem with people injecting aluminum in my and my kids body. Never the less, I pissed the doctor off, and told her to go get another doctor to see my son. She damn near told me I had no choice but to let him have the shot and I did not have much to say. I told her "wanna bet?" No flu shot was given.

now they got around pissed parents like you (and me:mrgreen:) one more time... hpv is one of the vaccines they give infants now:evil::confused::confused:... we are about to battle this ourselves, as our 2yr old is going in next week for his 2yr "wellness checkup", which is supposed to have vaccinations with it; telling the doc no more needles in my child's ass.... i think you have all right to be upset with the doctor (in both instances), but at the same time; this is an old issue, america was pissed about this when it first started happening, but couldnt/didnt do anything about it and now have accepted it for the most part; so there's sadly nothing you can do about it besides try like hell to have her not get the rest of the shot if you feel that to be the best decision. you are her parent... and in my opinion, because only two people in the world can be a "parent" to any given child; that gives them the right to first choice in all decisions regarding said child... our government feels that they are better parents than most of us and will force whatever they feel "neccesary" upon us and our children; unless we stand up and say no.... look into immunizations; there is a treasure trove of info out there about them; and they rail some very interesting accusations; enough that i wont put them in my child's body willingly. uncle sam can kiss-ass

I didn't know they are giving hpv to infants now. I don't think I'd let them do that. I don't like the idea of that one at all.

Today I saw an add for a vaccine for meningitis, I'm not feeling real positive about that one either. Dont want it anywhere near me or mine for at least 5 years, maybe longer. I want to wait and see what it does to everyone else first.

Hell my kids never had the chicken pox vaccine, they're old school they had the actual chicken pox.

look into vaccinations.... the facts are alarming; pertussis and autism; increased cancer rates; and overall, they dont seem to work:confused:?? my wife is 4mos pregnant right now, and before we ever go in for delivery, the hospital is gonna understand that if they touch my child with ANY vaccination needle they are gonna get the shit sued out of them.... if they do not agree, then i guess will go oldschool and do it with a midwife... she's going natural anyway

My son is actually allergic to the pertussis vaccine. The first one was fine, the second one put him in the hospital. It scared the shit out of me, he was already preemie and was just catching up and then that happened. Made me really scared when my daughter had to get shots, no problems with her though.

He never could get another pertussis. The other kids got the DPT and he got a DT instead.

Hell anyone else remember the smallpox vaccine? My husband and I still bear those scars.

You should watch this documentary called "The business of being born" since you're expecting. It's very informative about using midwives instead of doctors and home birth. Netflix has it on instant. I bet your wife would like it too. I found it really interesting, when my kids were born it was over 20 years ago and they strapped you down and strapped your hands down and you were a fucking prisoner during the birth. I wish I'd had the option of doing it the way they do in that docu. I'd go for that method instead.

She due in Feb? A little valentines baby?
