No doubt. I really like the fact that the soil can be used over and over again.... and the resulting plants are even better.Hey thanks! These are some of the healthiest plants I've grown so far. Used to think super frosty buds came from using bloom enhancers like Terpinator but go figure you can get heavily trichomed bud without all that shit.
How old are they and what where do you get seabird guano? What's TLO? I'm learning. I'm a noob. I started a thread Manure and Mariuana 2015 and someone directed me to an organics thread which had this thread. Yours is the first of many that I opened and read. It had a catchy title Anyway, any new info you can provide would be great. It would go nicely in the thread I just mentioned. Nice plants!Just finished reading True Living Organics by the Rev and realize a lot of what I thought I knew about growing pot is wrong. In the past I have always used chelated synthetic nutrients and straight water from the tap with varying degrees of success. I had already started plants in vegging in FFOF soil with added perlite when I was inspired to go TLO but had not yet used any nutes so decided to try to stay organic for this grow. Began with a regiment of dechlorinating my tap water which I now believe is not a pure enough source. My plants always seem to get that paper texture on the leaves which I now believe is due to too much dissolved salts -aka hard water. Does this sound right?
Anyways I added a top dressing of seabird guano for veg phase & then mulched with a layer of coir. I plan to use a high P top dressing when my soil amendments & fertilizers I just ordered arrive for flower phase which I plan to flip in a few weeks. Here's some pics of my plants- couldn't fit them all in one pic lol thanks for looking
I'm 11 days into flower and I'm going to try this. I thought, as fast as they were growing, that by day 11, I'd see some hairs by now, but they're just getting fatter and taller. That's not a bad thing but since AK-48's finish so quickly and I'm at 35 days, I expected more by now. It's like they grew nice and strong and on point, then kinda kept doing the same thing once I flipped them 11 days ago. I guess I'm expecting to much too soon.Hey thanx for commenting! Was about to leave this thread for dead...I love growing with TLO and that book sure was a revelation for me!
Found out my tap water is not as good as I thought it was so just got a new RO unit that hooks to a garden hose- problem is it came with a fitting for a pipe thread- had to order an adapter for it. I know my system uses chloramine which always kills the life in my soil which is why I needed this upgrade.
In other news my plants are literally exploding from the seabird guano top dressing. Vigorous growth & now it looks they are almost big enough to flip which I plan to do next week. In the meantime I have put together a flower power top dressing I will use in conjunction with an organic spike for bloom phase:
Used equal parts- 4 tblsp each of
Blood meal
Alfalfa meal
Happy frog 5-5-5
Greensand
Feather meal
Mixed that up with worm castings & coco coir- it's all cooking in a tub now & will be applied about 15 days into flowering. Here's a fresh pic thanx again for stopping by
Hi neonknight, howya been? Got a question. Other than the obvious, what IS the difference in taste and aroma? I mean, naturally organic is the way to go but does it really taste that much better? Be for real now, because I'm planning on "breaking the bank" tomorrow at a Fox Farm retailer, and I hope it's worth it. Plus, as you know, I'm a noob, and if I screw it up by mixing something, it's money down the drain, not to mention my . Have you done both ways to test the 'fact'? I'm in my 11th day of flower and I haven't seen any hairs yet. So far, I've been all organic, except for some MG Quick Start. Although I didn't use it (and a wee bit at that) until they had already started growing pretty good because it was the only thing I had. I was skeerd . The bottle is still full. So I think I can still consider it organic so far.I don't know if it's the lighting in your pics, but your plants look a purplish color. Never seen those colors in veg plants, not till late flowering usually. Other than that your plants look great, good job. Also welcome to the world of organics, if you manage to pull off a TLO grow you will never look back. Once you harvest and get to try the finished product you will be blown away by the aroma and flavor.
IMO you were suffering deficiency. Likely this allowed your plants to become vulnerable to infection. Not the other way around. It's mostly your lights. Good luck with your harvest. It is now week 7 and no pics because all my plants look like shit. Apparently I've got thrips. Ordered some spinosad and neem oil to hopefully get rid of them & prevent future infestation but word to the wise: it might look like a cal mag def; but it could be bugs.
Can anyone give me some advice? The bud is now covered in resin & hate to lose them so close to finish but the plants are slowly dying leaf by leaf. The tops are still somewhat healthy so it should not be a total loss. I plan to try & lightly spray the affected leaf and not the buds but I'm not sure I should even do that with the buds ripening
Ok that makes sense but I also did have thrips. Did not even consider that the red spectrum of my shitty LEDs would cause this but now I'm thinking you are right. I'm going to ditch these led lights & go back to a 600hps and 400w mh combo....these plants are almost done so not sure it will help much. I have gotten bleaching before using these cheapass LEDs but it seemed to go away when mixed up the spectrum with an hid. I'll just switch out one of my led panels for the 400w in my veg tent. Thanks for sharing your expertise- it is much appreciatedThe reason you're having Cal/Mag problems is the lights you're using. I've grown in RLOS under those mostly red LEDs. From what I've seen it can never keep up with the Mg demands. Move the plant to a better light source (of which just about anything is IMO - nothing against LEDs in general, just the shitty ones that most people use - COBs all the way if you're going LED...) and it will recover. Well, of course a lot of the growth phase has already finished.
Anyway, you can do alright but you'll have to keep supplementing cal mag the rest of the grow most likely.
I really hate those lights and regret ever buying one.

If ya wanna go organic first thing you have to do is throw away all synthetic nutes.Hi neonknight, howya been? Got a question. Other than the obvious, what IS the difference in taste and aroma?
