Does a person have to use hydro type nutrients when you do hempy bucket grows?

i use hydro nutes in my hempys. my medium is growstones.

I use General Hydroponics Maxi-Grow and Maxi-Bloom, plus I add CAL-MAG and pH+

growing hempy is quite easy....but if this is your first grow, then maybe use soil and try hempy next time

I kind of agree, as we all know how rookies love to water 3 times a day, plus hempy is easy to recover from over-nutes...the two most common mistakes made by newbies

but still most people say first time growers should try soil first......pro's and con's

no problem...many people use 100% perlite for hempy's

The journal ISK linked you up is one of the finest examples of growing Hempy bucket using Lucas formula I have ever come across. I highly recommend it. I do things slightly different than him, like no soul caps for instance, and always get good results. It almost takes effort to do get it wrong.

I've been doing hempy for several years now. I use the same Perlite mix, I believe I may have added a little vermiculite to it, over and over for I can't remember how many grows. Before Hempy i grew soil a couple of times and bought a nice water farm hydro setup that I also used a couple of times. Hempy is by far easier faster and cheaper taking far less of your time and effort than either. Seriously, unless u just want to hassle with your grow all the time(hydro) give it a shot. Really, there is absolutely no reason to be intimidated by this method like it's complicated or some type of rocket science. Easier than paint by the numbers if you have the right model to go by. that can become an issue with hempy buckets because when the perlite becomes dry it has very little structural support to keep a brace/pole straight

Pic below is a hempy that was so heavy the bamboo sticks would lean over when the perlite was dry



so I taped/wired the poles to the bucket for support...problem solved
