Hey all I am gearing up to grab the at600 but a buddy of mine suggest that 4 ar51 can hang with the at600 looking over the LEDs it seems like their is some new lights that are going to be awesome but will they give the at600 some comp or what should I just go with the for sure light instead?

Just make your lights Cree CXA or CXB 3590's and you can also use Vero 29 v2

The bit of research I did on those two lamps, I'm pretty sure they both output just under 130 LPW. The at600 is about 700w output so 4 of the A51 150w units would be a bit less, and 4 of the 190 watt units if they're still available would be a very close match. I'm guessing that the A51 Vero lamps will likely be running at 130 LPW and the CXBs will be the most efficient lamps on the market when they debut. Not long til we find out from what I understand.

I'm pretty sure that it's completely senseless to compare luminous efficacy of light sources with different spectra.

Yeah, you can get better equipped lights (plural) for cheaper and cover way more ground, in comparison to the AT600.
If you're serious about properly investing your money into a lighting fixture, you outta consider the Model-V 10 (200-300W) from Heaven Bright; each V10 will be around $800, with dimensions of 45" x 15" x 4" (perfect for spreading light like icing over a freshly baked cake), and uses both Vero 18 and MeanWell technology.
Upgrades are an option as well. Say Bridgelux releases a newer version of the Vero 18 next year, Heaven Bright will offer past customers the ability to upgrade how ever many individual lighting modules that they would like to upgrade. And physically replacing older modules with new ones is cake - all it takes is a few fingers to disconnect the old module from power supplies and connect the new module to existing power supplies.
The first x10 orders will be granted free upgrades in the future.

It shouldn't? Replacing the Vero 18 with 90W COBS would make these fixtures overkill in the typical applications that we would use them for, such as growing marijuana in tents, as ~35W per square foot (+40% efficiency) or ~12 PAR W per square foot is what most COB users here use as a standard.
I have grown fruits and vegetables with the V4 and V6 units; one of the cool things about these units is the ability to unplug each lighting module in order to reduce energy intake if needed, which can be beneficial for growers during seedling and vegging stages. I'd like to implement dimming capabilities in the future.

Crude in the case of white sources very crude bordering senseless in the case when straight color LEDs are involved as in the case of Area51.
If you're just arriving here, the suggestion to build your own light may sound like too much and almost crazy. Once you start following diy threads you will quickly see that it's not hard and you may even start to have dreams of selling your own led lights like a lot of these guys around here are dreaming about.

Yeah I was thinking four rw150's would do it I have two of the 190s that I'm coming to love
I hear you it just seems so complex too me I wouldn't even know where to start then all these new lights coming out then you go into what specs I get lost I just want some LEDs that can replace this hps and give me good numbers but I may look into
You represent exactly who I was speaking to. There is definitely a learning curve, but once you dive in things become more clear daily and then you get confused a little again and then clear again. Just like learning anything else.
I own some area51 panels, but I love the idea of building something I like better for not much more than half the price.
