Around here platinum is thought of as a purveyor of sub par products, with deceptive advertising and dated technology. The main Pled guy is wildly full of crap with some of the claims he makes. You can however grow decent flowers with their gear. you'll just be over paying and rewarding slimy marketers. Thete is a thread devoted to giving advice for led customers.

It's okay, many better options...less than 5 minutes searching this forum will provide you with the answers you seek.
I did search and did not fined shit, was just looking for someone that has used them before. I don't really care what others are using "asking about " the light that I searched for here before posting . so if you don't know It was not for you.

I said it was okay...read thoroughly next time, just like if you do purchase a light make sure you don't order a meh one and overpay for it before you ask about it and do some research on the Internet because there's at least 20 results on Google that pop up real quick like with hands on experience...oh wait, judging from your above post, that's why you were so touchy in your reply...:peace:

If you don't know what the par or lumen rating is, you have to hope it works out right?

Peeps cracking me up, keep posting asking about lights after buying them. After driver loss it's 690 watts, probably putting out about as much light as a 400w hps. If that's not what you were hoping for I would try to stop payment.

I used a PLED P450. I returned it it as it was garbage. Over a 2'x2' area, it would not fill out the buds like they should be. For 278w of actual power, it was really not up to snuff. That thing cost $550 as well!! For $650, I built 2 of my own lights for 400w total and just one over a 2.5'x2' area blew away what the P450 did (same strain, growing conditions).

There's a reason so many people are skeptical of LEDs in the first place. It's because cheap chinese blurple units never seem to produce as well as HPS of the same power dissipated.

The best two options right now imo are DIY with CXB or vero, or staying with HPS.

Ahh, excellent. The problem with most all Chinese sourced lamps is that they don't give the information needed to determine the efficiency or even usually a lumen rating. A good general rule is if you can't determine how much par light a lamp is putting out (watts*efficiency) or a simple lumen rating you probably don't want to buy it.

Another general rule, if the lamp puts out less than 120 LPW you probably don't want to buy it when you can get a 400, 600, or 1000w HID and get more than 120 LPW. Most all Chinese sourced lamps put out less than 120 LPW, many putting out well below 100 LPW. The recent post by a lamp peddler peddling Twilight lamps (an accurate description of their light output) gave stats of something like 7300 lumens, which came out to 36 lumens per watt, for a 200w lamp labeled as a 450 or something or another. It would barely cover 2 square feet! This is why it's important to have some indicator of actual light output rather than wattage or name, or HID replacement claim.

As for a buying recommendation, there are 4 companies worth looking at producing more than 120 lumens per watt (that I know of). Area51, Apachetech, Opticgrowlights, and Heavenbright (available first of next month from what I understand). There's a guy who posted here recently selling lamps on ebay using the brand Blondes that might also be worth looking at.

The best option if you don't mind doing some work is DIY as church mentioned. More light for less money.

THANK YOU ! WoW Some usable information at last !

I have 3 600 watt light atm and there awesome, Im just messing with led to see for myself if there still shit like I remember them being 5 / 6 years ago...
When they first came out I bought 2 90 watt UFOs in Fairbanks Alaska for $475 each "I know " now there $30 on ebay. Then I bought a Blackstar 250 ended up throughen it in the trash.
I've been growing a hell of a long time no problems there love my real deal MH/HPS lights just want to play around again with LED to see where that at now..

Old post but figured I'd wiegh in.
Platinum LEDs suck!
Yes good spectrum and 1 p900 is as good as a hps. Tested one for a year before buying more.
But after 1 year runs of 12-24 LEDs are already burned up on two of them. Yes a 5yr warranty but they need to be shipped out. They don't just send new they repair and how long till I get one back is a mystery. These things seemed cool at first but like most things in the grow biz they are crap like the light rails I use. They claim 75lbs but using these 30lb p900s the lightrails are stressed out. Doubt they make it another year.
Not to mention the fans on the platinum lights are built in. Unlike California lightworks where they are built in seperately. So when one goes bad you can just easily pop the fan off. With platinums you have to open the light as I had to when testing for bad relays. But was bad boards why they need shipped across the country for repairs. But everytime you open a p900 the cords always hit the fans. So be ready to open them multiple times once opened for testing. The opening of them and wasted time movi g these heavy beasts was all for not though cause it wasn't the relays. These things are a nightmare!
Can get growerchoice E680s that are just about as good for almost half the price and wiegh alot less. With no fans and they have more footprint. The grow shop I go to will swap a bad one out for a new one on the spot. No waiting weeks or months to get your $1000 light rollin again. Last thing I want to do is put up an oldschool hps with a fan a power sucking ballast and ducting again from the garage.
