Feminizing with DIY Colloidal Silver - Kosher and Tangie

Posting my easy colloidal silver method of feminizing. I've had fairly decent results
my past few tries, and want to share with people who don't have room to keep moms and clones or don't feel like paying $$ for seeds every grow.

I'll start with the CS generator I use. Very simple, just a 25-30v AC adapter with alligator clips soldered on the leads. Mine is rated at 30v - 500mA, a bit high but works fine.

If you are unable to find an adapter with the proper voltage, you can make one with 3 9v batteries. Here is a link. http://www.thesurvivalistblog.net/silver-colloid-generator/

Next you'll need some .999 pure silver, either coins or silver wire. I used a coin, cut in half for my 2 leads.
IMG_0494.JPG

Find a glass around 10-16oz, anything bigger seems to take a long time. Make a contraption to suspend your silver in the glass, leaving enough above the water level to connect your clips.
I used 2 pieces of wood taped together, and just wedged my coins in between.
IMG_0499.JPG

Now fill the glass with DISTILLED WATER. Tap or drinking water has too many impurities and will conduct too well, eating up your silver quite quickly.

Connect your leads and ensure that water is not touching either the clips or the wood holding the coins in place. Plug in the adapter and let it do its thing for a couple hours.

After a couple hours, the silver will discolor and accumulate a blackish-grey buildup. Simply wipe clean with a fresh paper towel and continue generating.

After a couple hours, the mixture should take on a nice amber to greyish amber color.

The top surface will also build up a scum layer. Scoop some of this out every few hours with a plastic spoon. Continue cleaning silver leads, and skimming top layer for around 6-10 hours.

This batch went about 8 hours, note the nice amber color. There will also be some accumulation
in the bottom of the glass like this.

After letting it go and it seems ready, I like to strain the solution through a coffee filter and store
in a quart Ball jar.

Keep stored in a cool, dark place and use as needed. Lasts for at least 45 days from my own experience, probably much longer if stored properly.

Tonight I start spraying the Kosher and Tangie, I'll give a rundown on the whole process - When to start, how often to spray, when to flip and how to time with the main flower group to ensure good pollenation.

I'll document the whole process, right through (hopefully) seed harvest.

Is there any way of testing the ppms of what you come out with mate?
I can get pure silver wire for $10 and I've got a litre of distilled water, I'm wondering how strong it would be in a litre of water..

Cheers bro! Good to see you here.

I don't have a TDS or EC meter so I am not sure of my ppms. I use the small 12oz jar and experience tells me when
she looks right. Then I just make another batch and add to the mason jar to make sure I have enough.

What does your spray look like after being strained, and what do the plants that have been sprayed look like after a week or so?

Ideally, it should be clear, and not have any particles floating around that are visible to the naked eye. Also, you don't have to exceed 20ppm using a TDS meter. Check out the link in my sig for a complete colloidal silver guide.

Nice write up thanks for taking the time man!
Thanks for checking out the thread and the nice comment CC. Just getting started, I'll journal the
entire process so hope you check back.

Thanks for the great info and link EH! I didn't point out that after straining, the solution should be fairly clear.
Mine ends up a silverish-amber color, with little to no particles. Some very fine particles will pass through the coffee
filter, but nothing large enough to cause a problem with your sprayers.

Nice thread SS.

Clear and to the point.

Thanks for sharing,

JD
NIce to see you here JD! Thanks for stopping by, hope this Kosher works out as I really love this stuff.

Okay, the solution is made and now it's time to spray. I use small clones that I will reverse and flower separately
from the pollen recipient. This round I will reverse 3 clones each of the Kosher and Tangie to hopefully ensure
sufficient pollen production.

I like to start spraying the clones 7-10 days before I put them into flower. I then like to start flowering them 7-10 days before
I flip the main plants, the pollen recipients. I use a sprayer with a fine mist and spray the clones at least twice per day. Any
sprayer will work, just plan on using it for only CS.

Here is the first 2 clones I am spraying. I will top these again at around the 2nd node on each arm, but I want the extra
plant material there for the first few days of spraying. This helps to get more surface area for the plant to absorb the CS.
When I spray I try to make sure I cover the entire plant, but not completely saturate it. The other 2 clones of each are just rooted, and I will give them a couple more days before spraying.

After spraying them for a few days I like to mist them with plain water. I do this about every 3-4 days. The plants will have a
discoloration and buildup from the CS treatments, a bronzing or slight greyish color on the leaves is normal here.

There should be no burning or stressing of the plant during the spray process. CS, when done properly does not harm the plant, only a slight discoloration of leaves and such. If there is burning, leaf deformation, or other stress problems, your CS may be too strong or have other impurities causing the stress. Silver colloids penetrate at a molecular level and bond with the plant naturally, suppressing the hormone that produces female flowers (pistils). This will not alter or stress the plant, and will not alter the future offspring.

Keep spraying 2x daily for at least 7 days then flip them over to flower when ready. I like to flip the donor plants at least a week
before flipping the recipient plants. This helps to ensure that there is sufficient pollen production when the recipient plants hit the
crucial week 3 pollinating phase.

Normally I would pollinate only a select few branches, but this round I am seeding the whole plant. A couple friends are going
to compensate me with smoke so the goal here is complete pollination.

I am scrogging a Kosher and Tangie as the pollen recipients. With the even canopy, I should get plenty of seed production throughout the whole plant. Here is the main plants.

I'll post some updates as we progress along here. Peace

Edit: Also, do not consume the CS that you make or the plant material that has been sprayed. Plants that have been pollinated are fine to consume as long as they have not been directly sprayed with CS. Although silver is a potent antibiotic, and consuming small amounts could have health benefits, improper dosage and impure CS could have drastic effects. You do not want to end up looking like this guy!

Hey SS, went out to see my girls this morning and decided to give the reversed girls a tap...WOW, a crazy amount of pollen went everywhere :-D stoked brother, totally stoked!!
