Bow Doe? can't really begin to imagine what being self sustaining like that must be like. good for the home economy too!

went to the fresh market today, not one of the local hellholes, so was able to locate a suitable steak, also nabbed frozen fish for whenever. Stoned w Gorgonzola and was havin a heck of a time finding the pkg. expiration date. Then I realized the stuff is basically blue cheese and already moldy, the pkg'd even said aged over 90 days. ok i see where it says 9/01/15, wonder if this wld be good w that steak and pepper, but it's creamier than chunky blue.

Pulled it from the freezer. Doe from last bow season.

Marinade, half a beer, half cup Italian dressing, tablespoon soy sauce, teaspoon of Worcestershire, pepper to taste, fresh minced garlic to taste. Bake on 350 for 45-60 minutes on broiler pan with marindade in the bottom.

Nice! That's the way to do it right there. Screw that factory farm meat at the supermarkets.

Have you tried Elk before whitebb? Where I grew up the deer was kinda gamey tasting, but the elk was phenomenal!

I imagine you are an easterner? White tail, good eating. I'm a west coaster and never liked our native deer, very gamey. Spent a few years in MN and did some whitetail, changed my mind about venison

I like the game taste. I eat rabbit, squirrel, deer turkey. We also raise chickens and on my father in-law s place we raise beef. I've had elk. I liked it. I've sampled most big game.

I like the taste but I tone it down for the kids.
Beer helps with the gamey taste...beer goes good with everything...even in cheerios;)
That's why used it. Lol.

Same here. I want a quick humane kill. I eat every piece of the animal. What bits and bone I don't, I boil outside for dog food.
You should coat the bones in olive oil and bake them. when they are golden brown its perfect for stock. I freeze it in ice cube trays. when they're frozen soak in warm water for a few seconds and then crack them out(they stick to the trays). Then I put them in freezer bags and use them when I make gravy.

I do save some bones. I make beans with them or potatoes.

I like elk better too. Or if the deer is young it's not so gamey.

Elk swiss steak style is the bomb
