I heard on the news this morning that he was described as an odd kid. So his uncle gives him a gun for his birthday….

This is just so awful. Stats say that overall violent crime is at an all time low (talking heads said that today) but are mass shootings on the rise? Seems like they aren't even news anymore. Remember years ago in Killeen (sp?) Texas, and Columbine? It's horrible to see the reactions to mass shootings then compared to today. People are more blasé about it now.

The gunman replied, “Yes. You are raping our women and taking over the country.”

The gunman took aim at the oldest person present, Susie Jackson, 87, Mr. Sanders’s aunt, Ms. Washington said. Mr. Sanders told the man to point the gun at him instead, she said, but the man said, “It doesn’t matter. I’m going to shoot all of you.”

I agree, if he was Muslim it would be labeled as terrorism by the mainstream. I don't call it terrorism, because it would seem like he clearly wanted to target black people. I think terrorism is a word that should be reserved for groups that target everyone.

Terrorism is defined as violence or threats designed to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes. The attacker himself said he wanted to start a civil war

I suspect the media is swaying away from calling it terrorism because he's American and the ideology he was following was strictly right wing, he hated blacks

Same shit with the pseudo IRS scandal that targeted liberal and conservative groups equally, but conservative media latched onto the story and drove it into their viewers that Obama's IRS was targeting conservatives.. A couple members here STILL cry about how butthurt they are about that

He was seeking change politically, he did it for political reasons; because he believes black people "are taking over the country", that's terrorism, man..

Don't let your bias get in the way of calling it what it is. It's murder, it's a hate crime, and it's also terrorism, he was seeking political change

If he was a Muslim and he sought to kill infidels, would you call it terrorism? Of course, right?

So why is it different when he's a Christian seeking to kill black people because he thinks they're taking over the country "and they have to go"?

If he left his car in their parking lot overnight and got pissed because they had it towed, it wouldn't make what he did any less offensive to me. Murder is murder.

Of course the media sensationalizes everything. They are doing it now with the exact same questions of labels. Same thing, different flavor.

Good question about the FBI, though.. for sure. I'm assuming that the roommate gave somebody a heads up?

We have degrees of murder for a reason. Read up on it, so you can have a better understanding of why first degree murder is viewed differently from voluntary manslaughter
