In the recent past the horticultural world will be transitioning from mono based units over to single highpowered Cobs. Optic has been leading the way since they first introduced the world to vero18/29,CXA/CXB based units. The new units are self servicing by the comsumer. No need to ever send the unit back for warranty servicing. Take photo evidence and Opticgrowlights will send a new part. Optic Growlights uses highquality BridgeLux,Cree emitters and Meanwell drivers. Basic handtools required. This thread will be a question and answer based discussion.

Eh, 'assembled' in the U.S. would be more accurate. Since 90% of the parts were actually 'made' overseas. The box doesn't grow the plant, but Chinese and Taiwan manufactured led's sure do.

Now days it's a global economy. Where something is made is of little importance to me. I'll buy the 'best' option available to me for the 'best' price.

Agree with ya most parts are produced and shipped into country. There are different standards of manufacturing and optic covers those bases with quality parts. Besides Opticgrowlight and Heavenbright grow lights! who else manufactures COB based units with quality components and assembled in the good ole USA?

best thing is to call/email optic! There are fluctuating cost of emitters, its just a pay and receive/install by owner unless they wanna have it sent back for upgrade service.

Nah, I don't care that much. Just thought you would know and could share.

So what's the point of this thread? Create hype?
Hey thanks for stopping in. The optics don't need hype. This thread was made for the people that wanna discuss there likes and dislikes of the optic units and make people aware of there experiences with them. That's all.

Tell me how upgrading chips works. Say I have a cxa model and wish to upgrade to cxb or whatever comes out next.

What are the costs involved?

What do the steps in that process look like? Are detailed instructions provided?

I see it mentioned on the site but no real details are offered.
That's one of the downsides of the box design; limited functionality and flexibility for the user.

How so? Optics for instance is as good as an "open" design with the lenses off. With respect to upgrading/replacing.
I'm delighted you asked, GG.

Take the Model-V for example: if users want to upgrade or replace individual lighting units, all they have to do is simply unplug two sets of wires, exchange one unit with the desired unit, and reconnect the two sets of wires. It's that simple.

There's no need for screwdrivers or TIM, like what Optic requires owners to work with and it allows owners of the Model-V to purchase additional lighting units to interchange throughout veg/flower seasons if they desire to do so. How cool is that??
