No... It's because we keep seeing noobs spend money on panels that we have never seen good results from.. The reason nobody gets results from them is because they don't put out enough light for the electricity used. Simple as that.

Questions like "Do leds really work" are extremely misleading, and cause noobs to waste a ton of money and time.

No.... you don't (or shouldn't) bash on someone that believes in a different god than you, you come to an understanding from reading their version of the bible and realize o...that God almost did the exact same thing as mine. Okay... (died, buried for so and so days, rose, etc)

Cmon u guys. Every thread i see people arguing. Instead of sharing knowledge.
Led are ideal for small grows that dont require a/c and the fact is the led directs all of it "LIGHT POWER" down towards the plant. so watt for watt the led wins.
BUT is the cost really worth it? It is if ur doing small growtents cause less venting. They are pretty stealth but still make noise like a computer.

All leds are not created equal, but if you want to find out, just look for the radiometric data, that's it....That is the best comparison.....light is light.

Led's that are 20% efficient, is not a situation where "watt for watt the led wins"...that is the cause of so many arguments...That statement right there, which is patently false, sorry.....

Glad you are getting results .... but STOP adding fuel to the fire, .....your statements don't reflect that, unfortunately.

im talking about volts x amps = watts. Not what they claim to be. Light is light ur right. But why is a mh light not as bright as a hps? When drawing same amount of power?
Id love to see ur LED grow

Not as bright looking? or not as bright in actual light [photon] output...Difference in efficiency, difference in efficiency of spectrums, since they are radically different spectrums to achieve nearly identical radiometric output....

and what lamps are we comparing? what wattage, what brand, what ballast, its not quite that easy to make a comparison...

Id love to see ur LED grow

I think led's work, my vote is for efficient white light producing Led's and high efficiency drivers...tough combo to beat whether you have 100 watts or 1000+ watts

Hps kicks out about a 1/3rd more lumen than MH. bulbs and ballast are inrelavent

Lumens do not reveal the actual radiometric output....that is the difference....regardles the fixture, bulb ,etc.

Lumens are a photometric measure and what you are seeing measured at least around here is radiometric when dealing with umol/s and PPFD for instance...that is the number you should be concentrating on regardless of the lighting source, that is the meaning behind, light is light.....

So you need to understand the diff between photo/ radio.....

So far none of my cobs have burned out because they aren't overdriven, have adequate cooling, and a good thermal interface.

Go google the diff between photometric / radiometric

Ask your LED company about the amount of power radiating from their particular Led's and ask them to provide info

They can't provide info.....well then do you know they are so good....

Because they grow really well, even though I have grown only a few times....but they were kind of expensive...

Ok, found out my LED fixture has the same efficiency as a CFL but cost me 5x the price......

Lumens are not a unit of radiometric output. It's radiometric output weighted against the luminous curve. Radiometric output is measured in watts and umol/s.

When 2 light sources have the same spectral distribution (like 2 HPS lamps), you can compare the output by which puts out the most lumens, but if you're comparing light sources of different spectral distribution, lumens doesn't exactly tell you what you think it does.
