I would say 8 tons should do it. Split it up anyway you like . I would do four 2 ton mini splits .
They have 60k lumen 400w hps bulbs now, which is the same lumen per watt ratio as a 1000w hps.
Let's see you get 2 pounds out of a 400'watt bulb. Not going to happen chief.
You can always add air conditioners ... And I think I could pull better yield from 35 6s than from 45 4s . At least a better quality/canopy penetration.
I'm not trying to be offensive .. But if you are this clueless and really trying to put together something of this size... Stop what you are doing, and pay someone who knows what there doing to finish the job . This will save you thousands of dollars in the long run. I know people that have had to switch there entire rooms 2-3 times cause they don't know there asshole from there elbow in a grow room .
you're missing the point, if you had 5 - 400w hps vs 2 - 1000w hps, same amount of wattage, same amount of electricity used, basically the same yield.
Basically? I don't think so. twice the start up costs and lots of different variables . Foot print size, Btus to cool per lamp, distance from canopy, tray size , plants per light . There is nothing basically the same other than your growing cannabis under the same spectrum of light

Lumens per watt. My bad dog. I read your post wrong . We on the same page. I still don't suggest flowering with 400s. The penetration isn't there. 1ks throw max lumens 3 feet, I don't see a 400 doing that . You would have to have a more even bushy canopy. Less variables under 1k
You don't need light penetration if you ScroG. Ever seen a 16" plant with 38+ tops?
