Question on needs for a small setup

Hello all. After weeks and weeks of videos and websites and forum reading I am ready to set up my for my first grow. I have a small closet space that is completely empty. I would like to maximize that space and have a small veg tent and grow tent. My questions are regarding lighting, scrubbing and anything you may see that is completely wrong.

The Veg tent is approx 2 x 2 x 3. I can go up another 2 feet if necessary. One overall goal is to keep the heat low and the electrical usage low as well. With that said I was thinking about using a cfl light for the veg tent. This space will not be used for flowering. do I need to worry about a carbon filter? Scrubbing is extremely important but i wasn't sure if it was necessary for mothers and clones.

The flower tent is approx 3 x 2 x 5. I am sorting through LED reviews for this area. Like I said before I want to keep power usage and heat very low. This room will have a carbon filter for sure.

Here are my questions.
1) Lighting - What is the formula to determine how powerful the lights should be for each area. And is CFL sufficient for the veg room?

2) Air Flow - I would also like to know what exhaust fan /carbon filter combination is best for each room.

I would like to add that I will be using soil for my first grow. Since soil is more manageable for beginners I will start there. I don't want to add the growing pains to learning about hydroponics right now. I also have a shelf that starts at about 5' 4" across the back and right side of the closet. I will also have a separate air filter / ozone generator / carbon filter sitting independently in the closet to scrub any odors that happen to get out of the tents.

I appreciate any constructive criticism and information. Thank you

I recommend putting your own setup/list together, good way to learn. And than ask for advice. I've just done it myself, I wont learn anything off someone else's setup/ideas.

Just my 2c.

I use LEDs in a 40x46 inch area. 4" inline exhaust and speed control. Phresh filter. Intake at the bottom exhaust smell and hot air from the top.

You can always learn Good techniques and healthy practices from other growers but in an overall sense you are somewhat right. Everyone's needs are different and what might work for someone else won't always work for you.... However, with that being said the basic setup consists of a light source (powerful enough to handle the size grow you are operating), a hardy medium that your plants will thrive in, a Good nutrient base to feed with, the size pots you are using will also determine growth productivity, ventilation to keep humidity and temps at bay and where they need to be.

On average though, i would consider t5 for seedlings, clones and veg.

For flower you could run an HPS. Size determined by your grow space. LED is great if trying to keep temps down, Or you can run a t5 with bloom bulbs.

Alot is determined by your desired production

Thank you everyone. I do realize that I will have to experience my own trial and error. I am getting my parts together as we speak. I will update in a few weeks when I am up and running.

i agree with dandyrandy, check out the hans panel there are a few grows on here using it the old one is only 65 watts new one is 80w but seems to grow decent bud and has a really low profile if your stuck for height!
