so not that i am complaining but i just measured my plant and saw something that shocked me to the core... recently i've been trying out DWC, i usually do soil but decided id switch it up a little. yesterday around 5 oclock i measured my plant and it was at 20 inches (only 39 days old). this morning i wake up and its at 23 inches. now i know that DWC gives crazy growth but why did it start now? why didnt it start growing crazy from the beginning? when i usually grow i see about an inch a day, NEVER 3! the only thing ive done differently from my other grows is the DWC system and the use of Recharge. could it be the recharge???? i top feed my plant 8oz of recharge every time i need to top off my res which is every day. so to make things clear i top feed one cup of recharge everyday. if its not the recharge can anyone give me an answer?? lol i just want to be able to replicate this exact grow in the future. im almost positive it was the recharge considering ive only been feeding it to her for about a week.

Your root ball change from when it went in to the point of fast growth?
Bet it did.....Bigger roots = more uptake = faster growth....

You keep your hydro, been there, done that. I'll stick to my Organics!

Wonder how you'll feel when you get your first taste of root rot???
HINT: Be sure you don't let the res temp go above 68 F.....

root rot? i piss on root rot, my water temp stays below 70. plus with recharge it can stand to be a bit warmer. ive dealt with root rot at first, didnt know wtf to do. i made a tea and bingo bango, it was gone. i love organics, thats what i know, its what i do. but ive never seen growth like this in my organics. believe me, i know the power of organics is real but this shit right here is killer. im used to only watering, never gave any nutes until i started using a different organic soil. what i normally use is "kindsoil" http://www.kindsoil.com/ shit is amazing all you need is water. and yes, root ball became huge and looked tighter? idk if it was, didnt want to touch it ( i have a cat -_- ) but yes, there was a change in the roots.

Hmm, I'm testing Phil's soil.....Mine that I build does better......I have a cpl of plants that don't seem to want to stabilize in that soil.....not good.....Very hot and stinky smelling when you open the bag......
The plants that do the best in the test ,,,, are not layered the way he says to do it......I mixed MY base soil and his......The mixed soil does far better as far as stability and overall growth is going...

Yeah dude, when your root ball jumped in size ,,, the jump in the plant is correlated.

Ever since I switched from soil to hydro (RDWC) my yields have gone through the roof. Like Dr. Who said, it's your root ball size that is effecting your growth.

Contemplating going hydro once I'm done with this grow after seeing this...3 inches in less than a day? I live in a desert though so it's always hot unless it's winter...would that be an issue?

You can buy a chiller... they sell micro chillers that's are very affordable and easily chill up to 50 gals no problem. Or just freeze water bottles and dropped them on your res every few hours. Where I live I don't need to do this or buy a chiller, temp is always just right so it's not a problem for me

I live in a REAL hot state, my chiller and split AC unit has been a must. The beauty of hydro for me has been the ability to perfectly maintain pH, nutes and temps to give the plaint exactly what it needs and if some goes off, I can quickly adjust. This accounts for the amazing growth that I've experienced. Root rot, and all the other things are nothing to worry about if you take the right precautions.

Base soil mix is equal parts
Earth worm castings
Potters Gold Organic soil mix
Canadian Peat
Small white lava stones (I like this better then Perlite but, do use Perlite as the Lava stone is costly and harder to get)

I then amend to several differing strengths to do what I need for water only or water and tea's.

I'm testing it because I wanted to see what it would do.....I have spoken directly to the maker/inventor - I was given enough (at a very low cost) to run 9 plants in 3 Gal pots.....The only one's that are hesitating are fussy feeders and I suspected they would be lagging in his "spicy" soil.....The 2 other strains are fine, with one slightly lacking in his mix/directions...Again it's better in my style with a complete mix of his and my base - no layering..

I like his soil - should be cooked more - I think that's the problem - HOT.
I would like to see more peat in it too.....better drainage and it wouldn't get so "hard"....

OK. The trick is to use the base as he does the ProMix. Only mix his soil and the base together......Another way his soil mix works,,,,is to use just the Potters Gold as the ProMix. Again, simply mix them together completely.....No layering!
