who keeps it simple?

Who else here grows indoor keeps it simple using non hydroponic nutrients not buying into hype and marketing, does not measure ph, does not check trichromes to judge maturity, heavily defoliates all through flowering, and generally goes against the grain of forum posts and peoples opinions and still gets good results.

I personally have been growing for years and have followed all the hype and marketing. And did do pretty well. A few years ago I decided to try an experiment using very cheap powder form nutrients from my local hardware store. Not measure ph levels defoliate the crap out of plants during flower break and bend branches. And my results were just as good as if I spent hundreds of dollars on products. The only thing I buy from hydro stores now is hps bulbs. And I spend roughly 40 dollars on nutrients and compressed coco blocks per grow. Not to mention time saved by simply scooping my powder and adding water. If I get a deficiency I simply flush out with tap water and start the schedule again. I water every two to three days first watering full strength, next watering half strength, next straight water then repeat. Each watering gives a around 8 to ten litres run off in 50 litre pots.

Anyone else keep it simple saving money and time treats there plants rough as shit and does well? In the last couple years I have not looked back. Hydro stores to me are in general full of hype and they are out for one thing......the all mighty dollar. You only have to look at nutrient bottles with fancy names and artistic pictures and not be a follower to work that out.....at the end of the day it is a plant it only needs basic elements to survive and thrive.
Yep. I've got about 5-6 years. Done the 7 or 8 bottles of different nutes, Recipe For Success in hydro, done soil with just miracle grow and using hydro nutes. Now I just do Hempy Bucket and Lucas Formula. Straight perlite in the bucket, have used 25% verm and use the mixes over and over. Lucas Formula= 7 grams Maxibloom powder($17? for 1000 grams), 1 ml Calmag($25? 900+ ml) and PH up. Approximately 1.5 ml($15? 900 ml). And elec costs .11 a kW. Add a peat pellet(.25c). Have a lot of lights CFL-LED-HPS and try all have all paid for themselves. Genes $6-$10. Dirt cheap.

I feed every other day. Takes a couple of minutes to mix nutes and PH. Trimming takes a while, but I enjoy it since I only micro grow for personal. I watch tv while I do it and I assure you I don't get in any hurry.

Final product costs. A couple of dimes a gram not counting my little but of time. Cheap and easy.

I like the KISS method as I'm typically too stoned to get over complicated.

I grow hempy using the basic Lucas formula (GH Maxi-Grow/Bloom)

I have a thread I called KISS my Hempy...it may offer you some ideas on keeping it simple

These are my donkey cocks...Mexican bag seeds grown in 2 litre pop bottles

LOL. Dude I am always amazed by your results. I don't get your kind of results tho I do well. Beautiful bag seed buds bro. I won't even do a journal cause I just keep going back to your KISS journal. I have nothing much o add. lol

Is this necessary? Of course not and a box of miracle grow bloom booster with maybe calmag will get yiu through an entire grow with dank bud and good yields. Bout as kiss as it gets..which is fine. Yiu dont have to try and move past that stage
Damn it qwiz, don't give away all my secrets! ^^^ That's exactly what I do. I depend on my grow for my needs, if I fuck it up I have nothing. I can't buy it even if I wanted to. That's why I started growing in the first place. I can't afford major experimentation at this stage. When laws change, the rest of my basement gets allocated to botany and I'll never look back, except in a fond, nostalgic nod to humble beginnings. I'll be able to share then, too. Some of you guys are lucky now, the rest of us are still waiting.

Great to see a few people who go against the grain and getting results.....i love it

I use pH drops to get it in the ballpark.

GH Maxi-Grow/Bloom will lower the pH to about 4 (red) which is too low and has caused issues with my hempy grows

I use pH+ to get it some where near 5.8 (orange/yellow).

Yep me too. I was confounded about that when I first started using the Lucas Formula and it def drops PH extremely low. Prior to LF I always had to PH down cause my tap runs about 7. But, as I wrote above 1-1.5 ml will treat a gallon of water to get it back to about 5.8-6. 900 ml of PH up for about $15(if I remember correctly will treat at least 600 gallons of water. lol. It'll take me years to use that much in humble little micro set up. ;-)

I have to use about 2-3 ml/gallon but I guess it all depends on your tap water

KISS is the name of the game. I run a hydro system, lava rock in 5 gal buckets, top feed, recirculating back to a main res. I used to to run a ton of addatives and boosters etc. Now just the 3 part GH nutes, and the odd drop of pH down. It takes me literally 2 minutes a day to go in and make sure every thing is good, literally set it and forget it.

Thank you,

I'll give ya some more of it

I reuse my medium, have 42 grows in one bale of peat so far

I flower with T5's

I feed chem nutes till the end and don't flush

I have never owned any kind of carbon scrubber as my plants never stink

I have lots of light leaks and don't get hermies LOL

and I pull more than pound from my little 5 X 5 area every round, got 22 oz's last round

and yeppers the donkey dick in the pic is a 20 inch cola on a 34 inch plant that just finished week 7 of flower :)

Before i kept it simple i used to use all sorts of additives with my hydro nutrients. Since using basics my crop quality has improved it just tastes better. Anyone else experience this? It is almost like all the crap took all the goodness out of the bud.
