A week ago this past saturday Mrs. Oldtimer and I were spending a week in the mountains of North Carolina on a well deserved vacation. Our son and daughter in law and granddaughter were house sitting for us at around 8:00 on Monday the son called my cellphone and said there was someone who wanted to talk with me the voice on the phone identified himself as a county drug enforcement officer . He quickly told me that he knew that I had an indoor grow located in the old garage on the left hand corner of the property. He was asking for me to grant permission for him to enter the locked building. He told me if I refused he would arrest my son because he knew he was involved . I figured he had no warrant because he never produced one but I knew that if I didn't grant permission he'd get one which may have taken awhile or maybe not . After getting him to leave my son out of this I consented to the search. He and a K-9 officer entered the building and confiscated 2 plants still in the pots and one that I had pulled the Friday before we left and of course my lights , fans and potting soil . He told me that by the time I got back in town he'd be on vacation and for me to call him on wednesday the 22nd and I did I met him at the sheriff's department that afternoon and was formally charged maintaining a dwelling, manufacturing, and paraphernalia were the charges . I had to post no bond and was allowed to walk out . My first court date is the 27th of July my attorney says that he can make it all go away for 3K. I guess I'll find out on monday........to say I'm pissed is a understatement the weed was only weeks away from being enjoyed by me but I now have to start over from scratch.Luckily they didn't search very hard or bring the dog in because right under their nose was a mason jar full of my last crop on a shelf in the adjoining room ........oh how did I get caught.....the only people that had been on my property was a pump man and his helper about 2 weeks prior and I was there the whole time they were there I don't know if they smelled anything but they may have his helper looked like he may have had some issues but I don't know. My attorney says he will try and find out how they obtained their info leading them to me. My pump house was on the opposite side of my house from where the grow room was and they never went near that building.Will this deter me......a little but what it has done has motivated me to become way more vocal about legalisation of cannabis in the state of North Carolina than I have been in the past of that you can be sure !
