Washington (CNN)Jeb Bush told Telemundo he wants a pathway to legal status for all 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States.
The former Florida governor granted his first Spanish-language interview as a presidential candidate to Telemundo Monday evening.
In the interview, he talked about his immigration policies, his thoughts on Donald Trump and Cuba, and his home life and family.
"First, coming here legally has to be easier than coming here illegally," he said. "So there needs to be an agreement with the border ... for the 11 million people (who are here illegally), they must come out of the shadows, receive a work visa, start paying taxes and also pay a small fine, learn English, don't receive government benefits, but they come out of the shadows and they receive legal status after some time."

why do they have to learn english? we don't have an official language
It benefits them as well as us

they should be able to receive government benefits as well
Legal immigrants cannot receive means tested assistance while awaiting citizenship

.
i'm Kind of on the line about learning English.
unlike most people on RIU I've been thru the immigration process twice. If Mexicans could come here legally they would

I am very against granting legal status to those who are here illegally but I would be good with this, as long as they have to pay a fine.
My perfect scenario is they would be deported and then allowed to return legally. I know it would be expensive as shit but I don't care. They need to go through the same bullshit the people who entered legally had to go through. They can be given an automatic acceptance.

We need to offer a citizenship path to all current illegal aliens in the US.

And then we need to be very diligent to close our borders to illegals. We have enough problems and mouths to feed without taking on more.

I've had it with the bleeding hearts who wish to greet each wetback with a dry towel and a shiny new driver's license as they emerge on our side of the Rio Grande.
what a racist piece of trash you are.

It's not the "bullshit" they have to go thru. And it's not the cost.

It's the 17 year on average time frame to grant them a visa to come that makes them come illegally. If they could come here legally they would

that must be why every single dictionary in existence defines it as a contemptuous, derogatory, and offensive racial slur.

you dumb fucking racist, try your 11th sock puppet. you've officially stained this one as racist, homophobic, bigoted, homicidal, and an apologist for pedophiles and rats.
I'm not a racist. Not at all.

Where shall we meet for lunch in KC? You challenged me to meet you to show you I'm real, and I accepted. Then you backed down.

Lunch is on me baby. When and where?

If I was in KC, I would take the offer just to smack you senseless for the wetback comment.
AC, honestly man, I meant nothing racist by my comment. Nothing at all. I'm honestly surprised at the negative reaction here. That's how un-racist I meant it.

But baby, you couldn't even slap me like a girl - much less smack me senseless.

Do you by chance play basketball? {oh please, oh please say yes}

so what you're saying is that you are so accustomed to being around racists and you are so incredibly stupid that you can't even tell what is an incredibly racist remark anymore?

Well, I wouldn't put it exactly in those terms Buck...I'd like to think of it more as a "you can't speak for how I feel" kinda thing.
