Grow in sunroom/no lights

Okay people I am looking to grow or the first time and looking for all the help I can get. I am planning on growing indoors in a sun room just off my bedroom.
It gets a lot of early morning and afternoon sun so I am hoping that I can achieve a good couple of plants without having to use any lights.
I live in Sydney Aus so there is no lack of sun and its just coming into our spring and really starting to heat up and the sun room gets really hot during the day.
If you guys could tell me what would be the best seeds to get and if it sounds like it would work without lights it would be much appreciated.
I was planning on going for white widow seems to be easy to grow.
Thanks.

how much direct light will they get. There's no reason why it can't be done so long as they are getting enough light

If it's too hot then buds will be fluffy. If the glass is UV or tinted it could be an issue, but it'd probably still work. Yea, white widow is pretty popular. That or Northern Light. I have some Critical Jack that is turning out very nice.. Super Skunk is decent. There are so many good, stable strains to choose from.

If you have neighbors you will want some stink control. Another thing to consider is "Is the sunroom completely dark at night?" If there is a streetlight neaby it could mess up flower. Another consideration would be to grow autoflowers so that you don't have to rely on the change in daylight for them to flower and light interruptions won't mess with flowering. Also, if you go autoflower you'll have dried buds to smoke by the time your photos would just be kicking into flower. Maybe plant some autos along with photos if you have space.

Make sure to get feminized seeds if you can. I doubt you want to mess with the possibility of male plants.

Keep us posted. Sounds like cool grow.

I'm not sure if its going to get enough direct light. On doing more research I might just build my own grow box and go from there. Thanks

Thanks for the tips. I've been doing a bit more research and it looks like I should go for a proper setup, grow box etc.
I'm an electrician so I'll be able to knock something up with lights, fans etc. I'm definitely going to get the feminized seeds and the smell issue I will have to look into as I live next door to my landlord.

Smells easy to deal with just run your setup like this. Carbon filter > centrifugal fan > ducting > cool tube > ducting out the grow box / tent.

If your in aus, you'll def want a cool tube set up.

I like tents, as you can just pack them down quickly. I once had to shut a tent down because of an repair issue in the area I grow. Was pretty hectic and worrying. But got it down in less than 30 mins.

Oh boy... The dreaded landlord :)

Yea, you really can't beat a 3x3 x 6ft tent with a 400w HPS air cooled hood and 180 CFM vortex fan and Phresh filter. This way you have good reflectivity, no light pollution, no smell and plenty of space to grow 4 really nice, medium sized plants. If you run lights at night then temps should be fine and nobody knows your secret. The whole setup costs around $600, new..

Check out Apollo tents and HID setups on amazon or Check craiglist. Chances are there will be some recently engaged dude pawning his setup because his fiance agreed to marry him, but only if he got rid of the garden. :)

Ha funny you mention a grow tent, thats exactly what I'm looking at right now on ebay. Think I'm gonna go for the 1.4m tall one.
I was hoping to go for LED lighting over HPS as it will be a lot cheaper to run and you can get specific LED grow lights. Would you recommend LED or is HPS the way to go.
My housemate is a bit of a power nazi so I know she's gonna winge if the electricity bill goes crazy.

Led then for the lower power needs .....reduces need for high powered fans and over powered AC

if u are looking at tents ......2 choices gorilla or secret jardin
gorilla is the better choice with 300 lbs of weight(hanging in tent) and IR plus the extended roof
secret jardin are good tents if u do not need the extras like IR or height extending ......holds about 70 lbs

ebay tents will work but the amount of weight they can hold and over all workmanship sucks (25/35 lbs top and it will fail at some point from use the crossbars)

I have an Apollo Tent. It's solid. $100 on Amazon. Not as good as Gorilla or Jardine, but it's solid. It has metal corners. You want to watch out for the plastic corners.

I don't see LED as saving power or heat necessarily. It depends on the Light and how much you spend. Sure, Area 51 makes a great light, but one RW 150 costs near $600 and it barely covers 3ft x 3ft. DO NOT buy a cheap LED off of ebay. It is sooo tempting... Your next grow you will be moving the cheap LED to the veg tent and you will be buying an HID. Just save yourself the time and frustration and money and get the HID. You won't regret it. Air Cooled hood or Cool Tube. 180 cfm fan. Pump the heat out a window. Forget CFL also. It's too hard to cool them in a warm climate. My temps in my tent run 1 degree over ambient with a 400w HPS. How can anything be better than that?

mate, serriously dont waste your time with led unless you're going to spend big bucks on really good gear. Then the problem is they generate not heat, so you end putting a heater in with them. Although that might not be so much a problem over there.

I don't think hps costs that much to run.

Best advice I can give is figure out now how big you want to go and do it properly from the get go. Otherwise you'll just be constantly upgrading. Well you will anyway haha but it will save you some money in the short term.

My electric bill is approximately $40 per month higher when I have a grow underway and I live in one of the highest cost per KW zones in the nation. It's manageable.

For sure... I learn the hard way. I have boxes full of unwanted grow lights, CFL's, LED's, home made tents, cabinets etc :) I finally bought the gear that is tried and true and my grow is going awesome. My last grow was done with cheap LED. I couldn't give the stuff away :)

I know what ya mean haha. I don't even use cfl for clones / seeds. That's what a 400w MH is for haha. Now that's a waste of power.
