Zimbabwe: American lion killer's extradition being sought

I didn't get the impression that AOAZ issued the permits or licenses and don't believe Fundira has the power to revoke anything. However, even if that is the case, the dentist went through all the proper channels and relied on the guide's expertise and knowledge of local laws, just as AOAZ recommends.

Agreed on Nugent. However, many hunters do look at him as a spokesman.
Correct the dentist relied on the knowledge of his guides. I don't believe much can be done to him besides public shaming. However, this lion was collared, it would have been apparent that it was a research animal after the kill.

Instead of reporting this as an accidental taking of a research animal, they decided to attempt to destroy the collar and continued with the skinning and beheading. I think that's indisputably unethical.

Baiting large cats is a practice Nugent likes to use on his Texas ranch where he runs canned "hunts". Nobody should be taking this guy seriously when he opens his mouth about ethical hunting. He's repeatedly demonstrated that he is a slob hunter.

Most ethical hunters don't respect Ted Nugent, the problem is the voice of ethical hunters is usually drowned out by loud mouth NRA nut jobs like Nugent and Palin.

Yes, why be openminded and tolerant of opposing viewpoints?

Another somewhat civil conversation interrupted by a member of the liberal Gestapo telling his compatriots how to earn their thought-nazi badges. If they don't comply, maybe you can threaten them with being labeled as consorting with racists. That should get them in line, yeah?
you do consort with racists though.

how dare we make factual statements about you, eh? that pretty much makes us nazis.

Americans are more bent out of shape over a lion being killed in another country by a foreigner, than they are by a forgeigner killing one of our own on our own soil.

Remember Cecil the Lion, but who the fuck is Kathryn Steinle?

Carry on.

Don't worry. They'll eventually name a law after her.

Goddamn, I get tired of being right on all these legal debates.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Zimbabwe is no longer pressing for the extradition of James Walter Palmer, an American dentist who killed a well-known lion called Cecil, a Cabinet minister said Monday.

Palmer can now safely return to Zimbabwe as a “tourist” because he had not broken the southern African country’s hunting laws, Environment, Water and Climate Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri told reporters in Harare on Monday. Zimbabwe’s police and the National Prosecuting Authority had cleared Palmer of wrongdoing, she said.

Though as tragic as Kathryn's death is, you're missing the entire point.

Number of humans on planet: 7+ BILLION
Number of lions on planet: Less than 20 THOUSAND

Now that's funny. And I can see their point...
His point lacks depth and understanding. When animals hunt, kill and subsequently eat its prey, they do so in a sustainable manner, dictated by the laws of nature. When humans hunt, kill and subsequently discard the remains and waste mostly everything, they do so in an unsustainable manner, disrupting the delicate balance that nature has provided.

People like spandy and muyloco will never understand, firstly they simply aren't bright enough to grasp these concepts, nor are they compassionate individuals capable of ecological conservatism.
