If they do, I haven't heard of it. One of the biggest issues with CMH tech is high frequency digital ballasts destroying the ceramic pit. I'm guessing- and that's all it is- that there aren't a lot of magnetic 600W MH ballasts out there to provide demand for such a lamp. Or maybe they felt that 315W and 860W covered most needs and therefore doesn't support a business case for developing one. I'm not in the business, so I'm just speculating here.

Yes, 4000 Kelvin temperature, 92 CRI- and yes I do think a high Color Rendering Index makes a difference; after all, plants have been evolving to live under natural sunlight for about a billion years now. There may be a better spectrum for plant growth out there but until we can replicate such a theoretical concept accurately, I'm comfortable sticking with mimicking sunlight.

Im glad to see some people using mh through the whole grow. I'am 5 weeks into flowering, i was short on cash to buy a quality hps so i had to stick with mh and its lookin pretty good so far. This is my first real grow so i dont have anything to compare it to but its looking pretty frosty.

Omg, is that a poodle growing out of the top of that one? ;)

I used MH because that was the cookbook given me by the guy who helped me get going. I tried the HPS because so many said that was the way to go.

Looking tasty!

Lol i thought it looked like a dogs head too! Thats one of the granddaddy purple, other pic is mango kush. Next run im gonna try using hps and mh for a full spectrum and see how that goes.

They run vertical only on magnetic ballast only, but they're more efficient and last much longer than MH. Color Rendering Index of 92 means they produce all but natural daylight. It's not fatiguing at all to work under.

Think of them as the big, cheap brother of the 315W LEC fixtures you can get from hydro stores now.

I feel exactly the same as you do about HPS; it's a great streetlight but it's pretty disappointing for growing plants.

I'm not calling anyone names, I'm suggesting a relatively new and unknown lighting option for people to consider on its own merits to see if it makes sense in their own grows.

Are you so threatened by the thought that HPS or MH light might not be the be-all, end-all lighting solution for EVERYONE that you feel the need to name call?

Seems a bit silly to me.

I wouldn't recommend them unless I got good results (better than HPS or MH, our why bother?), no thanks for asking about how well they actually work.

Anyway, I'm not trying to sell them, I just think they're a great lighting option that just so happens to be dirt cheap! So yeah, I thought might be useful info for people on an indoor growing forum... sue me.
