TBH this is just what happened to me Canadian here its not the LEO coming knocking on your door its gong to be Drug crimes unit under cover detectives not uniformed cops last week i had one knock on my door he said and showed who he was and went on that he knew that i was growing ( ratted out by some concerned cock sucking neighbor ) who smelled it ..
he went on about he didnt have time for small time grows and went on asking me if i had anything growing inside i said nope he said as in babies and that he didn't care if i did ,, i still said nope then he asked if there was any in back yard i said yup anyways long story short i did not get busted but lost 5 plants and big ones as well as one ready to chop he pretty much said we can do this the easy way or the hard way your choice
when he saw the plants he was like dam there nice but sorry they have to go
his last words was please do not make me come back here again
So if your a cocksuker to them you might go down be straight up with them is really your only option be cool as i was i was not afraid one bit
but the moral of the story is they do not really give a shit bout the 1 3 5 plant growers not one fucking bit there after the bigger ops period
even though i could of got busted in sense i did but not charged they knew as well as i that it would be hard to prove i was growing for the purpose of trafficking so it would of been a mistermeaner fine probation shit they after the big grows

its illegal period 6 plants is mandatory jail time there are medical licenses through out canada but renewing them is hard just a normal person here with out trying to hide behind some medical mj shield

That's what I've learned but it's not a solid answer.

So here's a scenario:

Guy 1 has a valid medical reason to have a pot licence but doesn't actually have one, he has one grow with 2 plants and documents everything online. He's not hiding his name and is easily easily traceable. Two threads down, is a person in a similar situation but instead of having a medical reason, their growing for profit. It's illegal to grow without a licence in both places. Do they both warrant an investigation or neither of them because the amount is so low? Does the for profit guy warrant one and the medical guy not? That's why I wanted to hear from actual LEOs, I wanted to get their thoughts on this and see what their comfortable with letting slide.

Law Enforcement isn't going to distinguish between the two.

I wanted to add that anything you say isn't going to change an officer's perspective at least not where I'm from All police assume you will lie about circumstances to influence their opinion.

In court a claim of medical necessity might be a mitigating factor in defense.

But I doubt it would even be a defense for laziness of not applying for a license when you claim it to be a medical necessity.

There are licences here but many doctors refuse to sign off on them. I've been refused by 3 doctors, all three also refused to sign the form saying they refused but I didn't post about me, I was posting a hypothetical.

So say there is licences available but are near impossible to get. Do you think that would weigh in on the officers decision on launching an investigation?

@Darth Vapour I know all officers who receive a report have to check it out and the decision to investigate or not is removed when a tip is made, it's automatically recorded and has to be followed up from what I gather.

Its easy for anyone to say owe take a hike pig you need a warrant but that can open the doors for you getting in serious trouble few hrs later right sometimes being up front is key to being able to sleep in your bed that night or in a cement cage think of it that way right just saying dont kid your self when drug crimes unit comes knocking its just not to see your face there is a reason there there and no getting away with it

By the time they come back, all the green has gone. Happens here all the time. This is our code of conduct here. Telling them to fuck off to sort out docs gives the growers enough time to clear up.

There is no way I would EVER let them in without docs. That'd be plain silly over here.

This was a buddies garden last season in California. He was sitting & watching his garden early one morning & the Sheriff dept just showed up out of nowhere & started chopping down all the plants. They never asked to see his paper work & never showed any paper work. They had big vests on & guns & it was over in minutes. This is what they left.....welcome to California.

I find this whole thing ironic although this just happened to me and by the way the knew me all to well lol
recently can tell you of another time 4 years ago owe by the way was a 6 year investigation and just like in the movies was taken down by cops in black vans and guns drawn and guess what they had a search warrant but waited to do the take down joint operation with RCMP and DEA USA / Canada as it was international investigation being drugs being shipped smuggled across border like 100 kilo a week and it was 6 years after the fact and guess what ppl got busted and went to jail so please
Bottom line police can detain you with out you being charged for anything you can watch your police movies and peoples right movements trust me scream for your phone call and they can lock you in a room for a whole fucking day
Best thing like i said above is be honest if they come knocking it will make your life easier in the end be a prick and piss them off your fucked then trust me you will never win against a cop
